Everyone and everyone's cousin is going to realize over christmas that they have been eating much and promise themselves they will get fitter during new years. So they all show up at the gym, usually without a routine and no idea what they want to do or achieve and over the course of about 3-6 weeks you see determination, a decrease in willpower, the excuses look and slowlly as the week pass the quantity of people becomes less and less. So for the first weeks anyone who actually does know what they want and how to do it have to stand in line sort of speak and see these kids struggle and fail. It is like salmon, you get a shitload and they fucking die out.

it is common to have some sort of initiation into any social group. if you want to be treated like a regular you have to become a regular first. If you are just hugging the bench and doing babyweights ofc you are gonna get some annoyed looks from the regulars. Once they notice you are here to stay and you improve nobody is gonna hate on you. But since there are so many NYE fags that give up anyway it is not worth forging a relationship with any of them until you know they have atleast a minimal level of dedication.

Well, like last year, for this year my gymbuddies and I have prepared a new and exciting workout trend for our new years resolution friends.

This time we will all, at various times during our workouts, lay on our backs on a mat, with the feet on a bench, a lmao1pl8 on our pelvis and do 'weighted pelivs thrusts'.

New Years Resolutioner here.

Used to run and was getting ready to be a boxer, trained for golden gloves when I was 17 only to find out I have spondylosis and weak joints in the right knee, right side of hip, right shoulder, and a torn rotator cuff in left shoulder. Got depressed, went to Uni like parents wanted me to, had mental break down, dropped out twice, now I'm 19 and getting my life back together again.

I'm a disgusting fat shit at 326 pounds, 6'1'', thing is I have thick legs and a round ass from running and squatting but tiny upper body. I look like a fucking t-rex and the fat is the only thing that prevents people from laughing.

Should I just cut, focus on upper body calisthenics and strengthening joints? Any other advice?

Talent is something your born with, and a lot of people think you need it to make it to the top. In most cases you do. Instinct plays a part. But someone with killer instincts will get creamed compared to a normal guy whose seen thousands of punches thrown at him from all different angles.

Basically, yes. If you run five miles in the morning, go to the gym in the afternoon, and study boxing technique at night, you can make it. If you can overcome fear and force yourself to move forward, you can make it. Gennady GGG Golovkin is an example of a talented fighter who works hard. Instinct, excellent attack patterns, needs work on defense but can take a punch. Another excellent boxer, Sergey Krusher Kovalev, great attack, defense, technique, speed, and he can land a punch no matter what.

You have to learn the basics, one two, etc etc drill them into your head then move forward. Also, its not as good as you might think. Boxing isn't a sport, its a fight for survival, one that takes you well beyond the comfort zone and threatens your life. One good punch can cause a hemorrhage of the brain.

Its a whole new game at a veteran lvl. Imagine hitting max lvl in a video game and then the only way to get stronger is by doing difficult dungeons.

Linear progress only lasts for a while. Eventually you stall really bad and really have to push yourself to get stronger. Theres gonna be a point in your lifting career where u dont progress for months or even a year on a lift.
