I went to a gym without a bench press or squat rack. It only had a smith machine. In order to bench press, I would deadlift the bar, sit down on the bench with the bar on my lap, and reverse roll-of-shame to the bottom position. I did this for a few months until I changed gyms.

The new gym had "men's" bars whereas the shitty old one had "women's" bars which weigh 10 pounds less. So the first time I benched in the new gym, I dislocated my shoulder by putting an extra 15 pounds on the bar instead of an extra 5.

Got my diddlylift to 290, still using double overhand, asked dudes to show me how to put on the belt, they tighten it up for me... embarrassed... but get that shit up anyway. I reorganize weights too. It pisses me off. I move all the benches around so they're evenly spaced as well. Hate gym kids, had to piss between deads and when I came out some fuckwit little teenybopper tried lifting my bar cold because his buddies told him to and fucked himself up. first time I ever squated anything actually heavy: 3-plate. I wasn't even thinking, I was just happy I did it. So I deloaded a single side of the bar completely, and watched as physics unfolded before my eyes as the center of mass changed and sent the bar flying. Fortunately no one was in the squat rack next to me, so no one was hurt. Definitely made a loud noise and got some stares.

The worst part is I'm a physics major so I should know this shit. I let my ecstatic state get ahead of my common sense.

I had a small set of weights and a bench at home but didn't use it enough.
I find the routine of going to the gym makes it easier to stick to.
Plus the people I've met there are all nice and welcoming.

If you have trouble talking to chicks sticking to yourself at a home gym is only gonna exacerbate that. Fighting your flaws is how you overcome them.

This has been an issue with me to, more so on days when I going for volume over intensity. If I focus on a nice ass it seems to help. But then I get boners if the girl's too hot, so I have to balance the tears with the boner and sadly I'm not great at either so I walk around my gym with tears in my eyes and a hard cock in my shorts most of the time.

e.g. I bench with the new ones because I like the knurling and pinky fingers on the closer rings is a good grip width, I do deadlifts and cleans with the older bars because the smooth part in the middle is longer, and the knurling isn't as rough. the new bars scrape my shins fucking raw... old bars don't do anything since my shins only contact the smooth part.

I also use the old bars for OHP because where the smooth part ends is where I put my hands for perfect grip width, so it's easier to just do that instead of figuring it out I guess.

First day of weight training freshman year of high school. The class was taught by one of the shit football coaches so no supervision, proper training, workout plan, nothing. Guess he just assumed as 14 year olds we picked up the basics of weight lifting somewhere. One of the bigger kids goes to bench press and asks me and my friend to spot him. So my friend says he will take one side of the bar and I should get the other. This is my first time in a gym btw. Once the dude benching gets to the point of needing a spotter my friends like "ok anon, now". So i proceed to pull all the weights off of the bar on my side, which obviously causes the whole other side to go tumbling the other way. I have no idea where I got the idea that spotting someone meant pulling the weights off if they got in trouble but thats what I thought and it was only reinforced by my friend telling me to man a side. At the time I swear I saw that shit on tv or something. but that got me a lot of shit and it was a small weight room so everyone was eyes on me at that point.
