Not bad for a new weight! hopefully within a few weeks i can go up again. According to the strength vs body-weight formulas, a 72.5kilo bench for 5 reps puts me in the intermediate category!

The record is 341kg in Australia, I'm hoping to hit 342.5 so I can get the National record and the junior world record.

If you want to make /fit/ friends, keep working out and join a sports team of some kind, like a club or intramural. For the guy going to college, see if there are things like frats, rugby, or rowing at your school. You don't have to make a big to-do about blowing off old friends. Just make new ones in new places and the separation will happen.

Bench max is probably around 175, I incline bench 155 for three reps so 175 on regular bench doesn't seem too far fetched
I guess you could say I've been lifting for 7 months technically but I have been extremely inconsistent. I'm back on track though and have gained about 25 lbs onto my incline bench the past two months

Generally yes if you have gangly arms, because you have to lift a further distance, but since we're tall we can pack on much more muscle to our frames which will have you benching a lot of weight eventually

Probably really good technique and a lot of work. There's a lot of 165lb powerlifters who've benched over 400 paused (as well as a couple over 450 and one over 500), so its not like its impossible.

I was dumb enough to start with the smith machine and built up to around 195 lbs 1 rm and 180 lbs for 6 and I ended up switching to free weights to build stabilizer muscles having to start at like 125 lbs for 6 reps, sigh such is life though.
