I managed to quit vidya cold turkey for books, got through 30 or so classics/must reads in about a year. Eventually I missed the interactive experience and went back to some vidya.
I think what changed the most is that I gave up pointless games (eg CoD, MOBAs etc) in favor of story driven games. Now I bounce between both.

You can do whatever man, personally I only play games that have either a big following or that come highly recommended. I know how stuck up that sounds, but I honestly don't have time to wade through potentially bad games with a 40hr+ week job.
But yeah to me multiplayer (unless I'm playing with friends that are far away or coop) isn't worth the time.

Coding is pretty fun for me. During the semester I don't get much free time to since I'm always working on CS projects.
