I wish to take up another hobby /fit/, what's your hobby and why should / shouldn't I do if?

Things I'm interested in:

Might be too old...
>Boxing
Don't want brain damage

I don't know, I'm probably talking out my ass.
>>

>>
>>35319955
Where do you play?
>>
>>35319921
>Boxing
Don't want brain damage

is this a joke? having boxing as a hobby doesn't mean you have to fight other boxers and end up all fucked up. You can also wear picrelated
>>
>>35320087
I thought I may sound stupid saying that. Boxing is what I'm most interested in.
Do you box? What's the pros & cons?
>>
Bass guitar
>it's fun and a great social hobby if you go to clubs and play with others / can be expensive as FUCK as with any musical endeavor, frustrating to learn if you aren't a neurally fresh kid

hiking
>it's fun, amazing cardio that won't kill your joints, gets you out in nature which is proven to improve your brain and mood and shit, fairly cheap and accessible / you could die

painting
>kind of hard to list pros and cons here

cooking
>ties in directly to gains, keeps you healthier and wealthier, pretty easy to make impressive stuff that'll wow any nigga and/or womyns you might seek to wow / makes you hate shitty food, might be a problem if you can't always manage to cook your own food
>>
>>35319921
You're too old to compete in gymnastics but it's fine as a hobby.
You're very unlikely to get brain damage as a boxer if you're not a pro. Like less likely than casual rugby.
>>
>>35320087
> can
Amateurs have to wear headgear for competition.

>>35320101
Con are no kicks and no grappling byt 6 months of boxing will put you well above a drunk douche. Pros are best hands in the business and resistant training.
> muh guns
Best self-defense is not being a cunt and parkour; just answering the question.
>>
>>35320134
If you just want to get out and play with some indie/pop bands bass is pretty easy to learn
>>
I recently got into acting, it's pretty fun and a great way to meet new people and try new stuff you've never imagined yourself doing before. Plus the social and confidence gains you make are astronomical.

Also finance/budgeting can be pretty intellectually stimulating. I opened up an IRA like two years ago and ever since then I've been teaching myself about economics little by little. I allocate myself about 200 bucks every month to play around with stocks/forex and develop my portfolio, shit like that. It's more interesting than it sounds.

Playing guitar, writing, drawing, sculpting, I do all of it. They're some of the best psychological outlets you can find.

And of course I always make time for a little vidya.
>>
I play a musical instrument, do judo, and defend the virtue of anonymous women on the internet.

Try those OP
>>
>>35320134
>you could die
top kek
still, you could die doing anything you enjoy
you just gotta do what you wanna do
>>
sure is difficult to make time for hobbies when you work full time and hit the gym often
>>
>>35320619

Not really unless you're one of those cucks with a 3 hour commute. If that's the case then find a place closer to your job.

Archery?
Well, archery and archery, I bought a compound bow and shoot arrow pon arrow into a target, and I'm getting better by the practice session. I'm just afraid of getting into assymetric blacksmith mode, since it has a 70 lb pull.

I'm in the middle of making a batch of moonshine (Nothing fancy, just sugar and yeast), probably gonna get my sister to sell it at her school and turn a little penny on it.

Apart from that, I'm also going to take the PADI OW course this summer so I can dive with equipment, since the waters around here are supposed to be pretty nice for diving. Plus, if I find a great deal of sea urchins,
I can probably pay back the equipment in no time at all - The price per kilo is fucking obscene on the little motherfuckers.
>>
Reading+lifting is the true patrician combo.
>>
>firearms
>motorcycles
>lifting

Get on my level.

Boxing helmets don't protect from brain damage, they only protect from cuts and broken noses.

This is the entire reason Olympic boxing has removed helmets and switched to a more pro boxing scoring system.
>>
I like brewing beer, not very /fit/ but it's a lot of fun to make up recipes and see how close you can get your beer to the vision in your head. It feels rewarding to get really good at a craft, and it's fun to fantasize about getting new equipment for your setup so you can brew more complicated/precise beers.
Plus people love talking about it. It's a good conversation starter and your friends will appreciate all of the free beer you give them (it's impossible to drink it all yourself).
It's only a 10hr/week hobby even if you are serious about it, and it can be much less if you aren't so it's not a huge time commitment.
The competition aspect is fun because you can get external validation for being good at your hobby and you get quantifiable results.

>my exact life.

It sucks living in the city in the north east where I can't shoot on my property and can't ride all winter.

don't. I've been playing since I was 5. If you didn't start soccer early, don't bother now. It's not a sport that you can make up for with just athleticism. You will get shit on, hard by better players and getting good will take you more than the remainder of your lifetime.

Learn a couple of magic tricks with cards/coins. Muscles + a quick magic trick is an easy mix on grills
>>
>>35320087
Don't spread misinformation. Olympics commitee ban headgear in boxing clubs as all research indicates that it doesn't only prevent brain contussions, but increases them.

Great fun if you don't suck. Get a fucking tutor; you'll fuck up your joints with bad posture if your don't. Plus you'll sound like shit

>write blogs
Me and a colleague of mine is writing a blog on mathematics and how it's used in other disciplines. Find something you're knowledgeable and passionate about and start a blog. It's fulfilling

>anal masturbation
Self explanatory

Damn nigga you a busy man. How much time do you have to play vidya? Also I want to get into finances and shit where do I start? I've done a course of macroeconomics in uni it's been really useful cause now I understand some of the shit that's happening in the world.

Are you a tumblr faggot?
>>
>>35321100
This isn't really a specialized thing though... imo this is something everyone should be doing. Hobbies should be things that are marketable at high levels, even if you're not at that level

No. Tumblr blogs are shit.

Bro. You can box without being a human punching bag... brain damage comes from years of professional fighting, not amateur shit.

Hell, you dont even need to do amateur shit if you dont want to.... just train and spar now and then.
>>
Drawing. You can draw your own porn.
>>
>>35320087
There are no studies that suggest that headgear actually reduces brain damage a significant amount.

But you have a point - sparing twice a week is different from sparring 15 times a week and fighting against people who hit very very hard on regular basis.

>>35319921
OP, have you considered grappling arts?
Wrestling is a very physical and athletic sport. It will make you into a beast.
Judo, while not as physical as wrestling, still extremely athletic sport.

Kyokushin karate is a full contact karate with no punches to the head. a great option as well
>>
Learn an instrument, I play bass and it's great. Not only will it give you a broader understanding of music in general it's also a cool hobby to meet people or as a conversation piece. Let's be honest, nobody gives a flying fuck how much you lift or what your diet is, but if you look good and play an instrument you'll be good to go.
>>
Any body here play anything besides guitar/bass?

I play tenor ukulele and dulcimer
>>
>>35324216
I also play upright bass, assuming that you mean bass guitar with "bass". Classic and jazz.

Ofcourse it's a shitskin teaching people how to get richer. Who else could it be.
