Why do some people put plates on the bar facing the opposite way as this?

The most common plates in the gym are the 45lbs, which are made by taking the real plates and carving out some of the metal (this is why one of their faces are not completely flat)

It's basically an ego boost, because people can't be sure if you're using the cheater plates or the real ones

Anon puts the plates on the nerdy way so that they can't stack into each other, does his 3x5 squats (month 15 of SS so he's repping 405), drinks milk between his sets, shits his pants and then goes home early to browse his favorite website 4chan.org and post frogs and jack off to traps.

It's because it's easier to hold the weights that way when you're loading them on the bar. Your fingers can wrap around the edge of the weight that sticks out on the lettering side. It really makes no difference though.
