The importance of getting protein in right after workout is hugely overstated, and it's for strenght training anyway. If you're doing cardio and don't want to lose gains, then you should eat something to make up for the lost calories though. Carbs rather than protein too.

If you want to lose weight then your diet is way more important than exercise. Track your calories and eat under your TDEE. Exercise can help by effectively increasing your TDEE. Protein shakes aren't necessary, they're mostly a cash sink, but if you like them, then it's fine to drink them as a relatively low-calorie snack.
