Can you bench 2pl8? I have been lifting for 1.5 year and currently bench 2pl8 for 5 reps. 6'4, 200lbs. Literally nobody benched 2pl8 ever since I started 1.5 years ago. Why is it such a big deal? I feel like a pussy doing it but people keep coming up to me asking me about tips advice etc wtf is the big deal? Benching 2pl8 is like deadlifting 3pl8; everyone should br able to do it. Do you faggots bench 2pl8? No estat & b8s post stats

I travel around a lot and get day-pass for different gyms. International chest days are mostly spent in other gyms. Nobody binches 2pl8
>>
>>35301215

I bench 275 for 21 and 315 for 10. Second best bench is a 245 single at my gym. A lot of people do actually reach 2plate and switch gyms and it makes me sad.

This gym just got a huge grant and they decided not to update the powerlifting equipment because of this issue.

If youre the best bencher/lifter/whatever then help others and build up a strong community instead of switching imo.

How long have you been training? I only bench 225lbs for a single and 200lbs for 5 reps. Coming up on 2 years of lifting. I'm 5'10" 160lbs started lifting at 135 lbs. Feel like I should be able to lift a lot more...
>>
My max is 245lbs for 1, 2pl8 for 3 reps. Been lifting for almost a year. Feel like my bench/chest is my weakest area
>>
>>35301409

I was a nyr'er actually and im about to hit my 4yr mark.

I started with 95lbs and on the 2yr mark i was benching 185 for 8 reps. I didnt have strength goals until the 2yr mark and i was doing high volume routines. Its not til then i figured out as a natty you need str for mass.

In those first 2yrs i bulked up 175 to 195. The next year i went up to 210 and now i weigh 230 at 5'10. My 1rm is 365 atm but im taking a break from benching intensely and im focusing again on my Dl.

That doesn't sound like a commercial gym tho. I was assuming OP had been going to commercial gyms, given how people there are impressed by a 2pl8 bench. At a powerlifting gym (or small independent gym or whatever), I can't imagine that being the case.

I'm hitting 205 at an LA Fitness and I don't give a shit about "building a community" or whatever there (and yes, I realize I'm not exactly a beacon of strength, nor am I claiming to be). However if I was lifting at a proper powerlifting/oly gym, that'd be a different story.
>>
>>35301538

That sounds like a commercial gym to me. That guy is definitely an outlier, but unless your powerlifting gym is populated solely by women and midgets 245 is not going to be the second highest.

Shit, that's pretty close to mine and I'm not even top ten at a non-PL underground gym.

Most people in my gym can bench 2 plate, theres a few people who do up to 4 plates.

I myself max out at about 2 plates + a 5kg each side for 5-6 reps.

Sounds to me like you just go to planet fitness
>>
>>35301576
>2 plates + a 5kg

I thought plates were freedom units? Are you mixing metric and imperial?
>>
>>35301300
Hey boss you sound like you know a thing or two about moving weight. So here's my question... I've been stuck at a plateau of 315, can't ever get past one rep... I started benching from the hole with the safety racks or floor pressing as its called. Any thing in particular you did to break the plateaus of bench?
>>
>>35301491
So what did you do for your chest days when you started to focus on strength? How many reps and sets?
>>
>>35301617

That doesn't sound like a floor press.
>>
>>35301181
2pl8 is pretty common like 30% of my gym does it.
Most I've seen was 4pl8 touch chest and 5 reps, guy was also a manlet so I wasn't mirin that much.
Also anyone in murphy tx area
>>
>>35301599
An average 'plate' is considered to be twenty kilos or 45lbs; its neither imperial or metric its just a weightlifting measurement everyone knows.
>>
>>35301538

I do go to a commercial normie gym.

>>35301617

I didnt do anything special really. I bench everyday and i bulked up 20 pounds so i give most credit to that.

>>35301618

High intensity and high frequency. I bench everyday. Obviously theres days where i deload(i call those active rest) and if i get strains i deadlift those days and completely avoid benching. Its a very head hitting wall approach but it worked.
>>
OP, care to post a body pic?
>>
I bench 1.5 pl8 at 70kg bw, cutting till february then going on an 8-10 month bulk and hope to hit 2 pl8 sometime in that bulk.
>>
>>35301701
Thanks anon
>>
>>35301181
I can put up 2 plates for 3. Have been lifting for 8 weeks...
>>
>>35301743

no sweat. Autoregulation is like the final aha moment in your lifting adventure. Benching daily you know your limits well and youre always primed to put out your daily max. One day youre gonna do your max and youll think, woah i can do 2 reps. This happens like 15 times and suddenly youre benching 3.5plate.

I always hated how fit is when it comes to experimenting.

>bruh ur not getting gains cause ur not doing (program)
>bruh ur not getting gains cause ur not eating like (program) says so
>bruh ur not getting gains cause your sleep shit

Programs are great but they should just be guides not rules. Your body makes the rules. You learn what you personally have to do to reach your goals.

I bench 2pl8 for 6 reps at 5'11 75kg.
Can bench up to 2.5pl8, need 3pl8 bench and then my life is complete.
>>
>>35301818
2pl8s on each side nigga

I hope you're strong because you sure as shit ain't smart, fAmigotchi
>>
>>35301576
>do up to 4 plates
I don't believe you, 4pl8 is a fucking exceptionally high bench, and I've never actually seen anyone do it outside of a PL meet.

Not being in the absolute top echelon of strength doesn't mean you're going to planet fitness, pal.
>>
>>35301181
2pl8 isn't even an accomplishment I've been lifting for 3 months and I can do 2pl8 for 2 reps. Idk senpai, people just don't work for it.
>>
I'm 5'8 and 170 lbs and can rep 2 plate
>>
I'm lifting for 3.5 months and i bench 110lbg @ 130lbs BW
>>
I weigh 160 and bench 2pl8 ORM...
>>
>>35301181
It's mesmerizing to someone like me who is 155 pounds, but for you it's not much more than your body weight so whatever
>>
>>35303451
Literally this. 2plate doesn't count if you weigh 2plate.
>>
Coming up on 26 months of lifting altogether, 32 since I started, haven't even touched 2pl8 yet, been everywhere from 78 to 97 kg bw

>get on my level

not lying, I'm aware how it sounds, but both me and my 18 year old brother have the same stats after lifting for the same amount of time.

IMO, too many people simply fuck around in gym, very few push themselves too afraid of failing.
>>
>>35304753

You've got a lot of work (and eating) to do for a 200kg proper bench.
>>
>>35304769
Tbh, i don't even understand how someone can lift that much, so i can't even truly understand how much I need to put into it, the only thing i know is its going to take at least 3 years.
>>
>>35301181
>2015
>doing bench and not ohp
ayy mama mia
>>
Your 6'4 and 200lbs, no shit it's not impressive, if you was like 5'8 140 then it'd be impressive but thats nothing at your weight and height.
>>
>>35301181
You have to consider that most people don't lift consistently for 1.5 years, or even 1 year.
