How I would do it, and you gotta understand I would take this with a grain of salt because I've never done HIHF. But what I would do is periodize specificity. So say you squat and bench 6 times a week. For the first month I'd comp squat 2/week and do variations the other 4 days. For bench more like 3/3. Then next month 4 comp squats/week, then all comp squats/week then deload and max out.

Also you could still periodize volume but if this is your first time doing HIHF I wouldnt add any back off sets for the first 2 weeks atleast. I'd get my volume on the working up to the singles doing pseudo working sets until I hit that single.
>>

This is exactly what I've done for 15 days now. Going to have a couple of light days and go for a max before christmas. After holidays I think I'll go for a 12 week cycle periodizing volume and specifity to some extent.
Thanks for the advice friend.

Got something to do with how you train. You see all these people doing 8s on some weight and then they can barely do one rep if they put on 10 more kg. Same way with people who train more in the lower rep ranges, high reps feel awkward and heavier then it should

Squats and deads. Any sick gainz made on that program would be primarily because you busted your balls for the PR on test day more than because the programming was great. I don't really remember, mid 300s, I think 225 going in, and I remember 395 for deads because I did pull 4pl8 at the end.

I work as hard as I can, I spend most of my free time lifting, studying or on /plg/ learning about lifting and programming. What more is needed of me?

Seriously, I'm open to suggestions but I do believe that I'm working my hardest to be disciplined in and out of the gym, improve my form, and I literally haven't been in the gym less than 4 times a week since may when I was sick for 2 weeks.

You've basically been making the same kinds of gains as I did earlier. I do think that it's more common than you think, you just see those bragging about making insane gains.

However in just the past 2-3 months, I've gone from 125>152.5 SQ, 80>90 kg BP, 150>175 DL. I just sort of made a big jump in volume, and a taper, and the gains just started raining down on me. This last period basically outpaces all of my previous progress, even my newbie linear gains.

What's "slight"?

One of my biggest problems with Cadytoe's 6 week is his section on diet. The whole "you don't need to eat that much I don't even track calories blah blah blah" is just fucking ignorant. His idea of "slight" is enough to gain half a lb to a lb a week, so you best be getting 300-500 calories ontop of your TDEE+caloric requirment for your workouts. Too many people underestimate how many calories lifting heavy shit burns, so don't forget to factor that in.

When diagnosing failings in programming always approach in the following order:

FOOD - Am I eating enough? (TDEE+exercise+bulk)

SLEEP - Am I getting eight hours? Not eight hours in bed, mind you, eight hours of quality sleep.

EFFORT - Am I pushing myself as hard as I can? Could I have gone a little harder and pulled a grind?

BAD DAY? Shit happens. If it's a one time thing, chalk it up to bad voodoo.

PROGRAMMING? If all else has failed, now you can take a look at your programming.
>>
>>35290839
i am eating 400 cal more but it might be sleep since i only slept 4 hours last night do to work should i try tomorrow or lower the weight?
>>
>>35290854
>4 hours

Jesus tapdancing Christ, you had to ask us what the problem is? How can you even fucking function, let alone lift heavy shit?

You should do neither. You fucked up your workout because you can't figure your fucking shit out for sleep. You should get eight hours, and continue on with the program.

If eight hours is something you can't do for sleep, you need to jump off C6W; there is no way someone can function at that kind of training with less than %50 sleep.
>>
>>35290839

I can believe that Candito is both right and wrong about the whole "you don't need to eat that much" thing. From his point of view, he doesn't eat that much. He's just used to judging things by how much strength athletes in general eat and Candito is both pretty light and fond of lower-ish volume training.

Compared to the regular sedentary guy, even a 165lb competitor at the elite level eats like a monster.

And I mean super underweight by PLing standards just to clarify. Like if your 6ft 170lbs you should not have to gain weight to gain strength. Maybe you should gain weight but it's not necessary to running a routine. And any routine that REQUIRES you to gain weight is a terribly programmed.

>>35290908

Very true. The "bulk" in my equation should be specified to be optional. However, if you're not eating enough to fuel your life, and your training, your training is going to suffer greatly.
>>
>>35290956
That doesn't mean anything
>>
>>35290948

It's not entirely wrong. Recomping is a big part of a proper training cycle.

Fucking shit lads, I really fucked up my biceps (arm wrestling).

I never thought it could be this bad, one would think heavy lifting prepares you for that.

Anyways, what can I do to recover them quickly?
Feels like I strained the biceps tendon - not sure though.

Protection, Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation for three days. No heavy lifting for three days. Rest. After three days, start rehabbing with curls, very light, very high reps. I also had a ton of success with pic related. Those first three days of P.R.I.C.E are very important though. Gotta let the bleeding stop.

I am unsure if I want to go for warmth or cold (ice)?

And curls only after 3 days yea? Thought maybe earlier, but it does make sense.
>>
>>35292400
>I am unsure if I want to go for warmth or cold (ice)?

Warmth can happen after day three. The name of the game here is to reduce the swelling. Ice on for five, off for five. Don't ice for longer than five minutes.

>>35292400
>I was thinking about putting my sleeves on

This is a great idea

>>35292400
>And curls only after 3 days yea?

Yeah. Assuming that there are rips in the muscle belly, there will be bleeding, and we want to give those blood vessels lots of time to heal up.

So for your first day of recovery, do 3 sets of 25 curls with maybe a ten lb bar. Increase the weight every session. Stop if you feel any pain.

Cool it's just once for a periods of times (broken down into those 5min intervals you mentioned) or throughout the entire day?

peanut butter is pricey as fuark here, cheese may be good tho
>>
>>35292739

The warming effect from the sleeves is mostly negligible. The compression is going to really help.

Ice on an off five and five for twenty minutes (2 on, 2 off) a few times a day. No need to be doing it all day, two or three times should suffice.

I also personally avoid Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory drugs, because quite a few of them thin the blood which seems counter intuitive to me, but you may find they help ease the pain.

Yes. There are only four mandatory clothing items you need for powerlifting.

A singlet/all in one/soft suit

ok, i have a question /plg. so i have a few PL meets under my belt (6) and i was looking into equipped power lifting. the 2nd meet i did had a guy in my weight class (90kg) squatting 800+ in a multiply suit. i know it will take some time to get used to lifting with a suit and getting in and out of it and the cost, i just want to know 3 main things
1. any suggestions as to what to buy for a beginner in equip power lifting ( bench shits, squat brief, squat/DL suit?)
2. any suggestions for a routine to ease into equip? ( i was aiming to start The Cube, or should i go back to SS to learn how to use the stuff?
3. any other helpful hints as to going from Raw to Equip?
>>
>>35293710
Are you ready to be covered in bruises and marks, and have your lifts be painful as fuck?
Pic related, triceps after benching
>>
>>35293739
yes.
>>
>>35293710
Why would you want to lift equipped? Not hating, just don't understand it.
>>
>>35293710
desu unless you're on gear, geared lifting is just silly and a waste of time.
>>
>>35293771
Well, then I can just say, you get the most out of your suit, if you go towards the pain. Optimally, it should feel like your arms/legs are burning at the bottom of the lift
>>
>>35293772
to lift crazy weights in comp and prepare my neurological system for such weights.
>>
>>35293798
but is it really you lifting it or the gundam suit you put on in order to do so?
>>
>>35293809

>>
>>35293710

Find a crew. Learning the gear without help is fucking hard and its extremely difficult to train in gear solo. But as for buying stuff, start at the low end, or at least moderate (this again is where experience helps) because there's no point splurging on the tightest pro gear you can get if nothing you can lock out will ever go down against it.

You'll also tend to find that, outside of dedicated technique work in the gear, most of your training layout stays pretty similar. The exact lifts might change (because your weaknesses will be radically different in gear) but you're not going to be doing a lot of super heavy gear work until you get close to a meet. Usually.

>>
>>35294116
Afaik there are fewer than 5 regular posters including myself who lift equipped and everyone else is exclusively unequipped.

Equipped is not popular.
>>
>>35293710
Try buying a titan f6 for your first bench shirt, probably a titan centurion for your first squat suit and deadlift with it as well. Size is very important. I can't really help because it's very individual but if you tell me your height and weightclass I'll make an educated guess. Buy 2m knee wraps from inzer or titan.

And lift in the usapl.

I tried (semi) sumo DL for the first time last week. It felt pretty good and i didn't rush it, recorded myself to see that my lower back is good and that my hips don't shoot up etc.

So what happened after a few sets is that i started to feel light pain in my left hamstring while pulling. After that i have felt it only while stretching (hands to toes) or while deadlifting. It really makes DL feel unpleasant, although i don't feel it outside the gym.

Opinions? What do.
