Do tall guys have an easier time deadlifting and getting chicks? I used to think this was just a meme but I'm seeing it everywhere
My tall friends seem to make really fast deadlift gains, and chick gains. Why?
>>35278525
exceptionally tall people also tend to have disproportionately long arms, generally speaking. long arms are good for pulling a lot, but shit for benching. so, your friends probably either fall into that category OR are just naturally good at deadlifting
and women tend to like tall guys, but being a lanky fuck is generally negative
>>35278680
>but being a lanky fuck is generally negative
this, you'll pretty much always be 2nd or 3rd choice
who fucking cares about deadlift...
Best benefit is to grip manlets from their neck like pic related. I hear its also effective to grab a manlet from its ear and pull it close.
>>35278699
people who like to deadlift?
>>35278710
who put that kid on steroids and why is he bald?
>>35278719
yeah but... deadlift is pretty much an exercice to test how much you can lift before you fuck up your back. You don't need deadlifts for aesthetics

;_;
is there any way to get taller? does HGH work? fuck this shit
>>35278525
Women want tall DNA.
Tis fact.
But women want wealth too, and tons of broke guys get pussy.
We all have our pros and cons.
>>35278748
deadlift strengthens your back 99% of the time
unless you start pulling 600lbs regularly or your form is shit, there's nothing to worry about
>>35278525
japan no!
>tall
>arms are short so I can't deadlift well
>chest is narrow so I can't bench well either
Oh well
>>35278733
He trained so hard he went bald
>>35279411
is that actually a thing? I mean not just training but like if you roid? Apparently high testosterone causes baldness, so shouldn't roiding make you bald?
>>35280139
Nah it doesn't really cause it It just makes it kick in a LOT faster. Like if your dad lost his hair at 50 roids will make you go bald at like 26.
If you don't have the genes for baldness you're gonna be fine (implying you don't take like a L of test a week).
>>35280139
it's genetics, mainly
usually balding guys are high test but its not 100% the case every time. He definitely isn't natty
if you're below 6 feet stay off the roids you look ridiculous. Also anyone can get laid if you have game.
what is the definition of "tall"
i'm 5'7.5 which is above average is that tall?
>>35280959
>he thinks anything under 6' is "above average"
holy fuck i am laughing
i'm the shortest in my group of friends and i'm 6'1.
>>35280959
>5'7''
>above average
>is that tall
It's like your not even making an effort to bait me desu fampai
>>35280959
Ha no.
>>35278525
Absolutely not. 6'5", deadlifts are the bane of my lifts. I have to pull them literally 1.5x the height as my below average friend. Takes longer to fill out, but more pay off once joocy. Being tall means I do the same or less weight on bench, but when you find the newtons it's proportional. Pretty nice.
>people genuinely think being taller is better for deadlifting
Jesus christ I honestly didn't know how retarded this board was outside of /oly/ and /plg/ what the fuck
The bar has to literally move a bigger distance the taller you are, how can you not comprehend that?
>>35278710
Boyko what are you doing on the chinz?
>>35282638
Greater distance doesn't actually mean harder in every case. Leverages matter and tall guys very often have extremely advantageous ones for deadlifting.
>>35278710
How tall is that guy? Like 5'3?
>>35282638
>>35282646
>leverages matter
I assume you mean leverage?
Leverage as in lever?
The vast majority of taller guys, like me, (6'2") have longer legs and arms, which are levers during lifting.
Longer levers = more distance to cover during a rep, and more work output per report AND per set.
If you are 5'8" and I am 6'2", if I do 5 reps of any lift, and you do the same, you are getting maybe a four-inch 'discount' or handicap each time, versus my reps. Over 5 reps, that's a total of 20 inches.
You had to cover less distance throughout the rep.
Also, almost impossible to prevent knees going past the toeline on squats, and my knees get in the way on deadlifts.
I have a 35" inside leg measurement on my trousers...
Also, OP - I remember reading that >95% of world champion bodybuilders are under 5'8".
Use what ya got.
>>35282999
Confirmed for not understanding what a lever is.
It's not about distance. It's about being able to cause the weight to move more with less movement of your lower back and legs.
As you can see in pic related, the longer armed (i.e. taller) deadlifter has his legs further above parallel in the starting position than the shorter lifter. This means that an equivalent contraction of the lower back and drive from the legs results in the bar moving proportionately more for the taller lifter than the shorter one.
To phrase it differently: Deadlifts are predominantly powered by your posterior chain. Your lower back. The less those muscles have to contract, the easier the lift. Taller people have longer arms. Longer arms gives better leverage because you have to contract your posterior chain less to get the same amount of movement of the bar as a short person. Yes, the bar has to go up further, but your legs and lower back don't have to go through the same degrees of motion as those of a short lifter do. Overall, this makes it slightly easier for tall people to deadlift.
