Well on the veeeerrrry low end of the question you've proposed, a couple of the lifters in /plg/ are nationally competitive or have attended international meets. All of them trained in excess of 10-12h a week, and that is ONLY taking into account actual time in the gym, recovery, food preparation and travel probably pushes that number into the high 10s/low 20s.
This is just for a moderately successful athlete in what is (basically) an easy sport.

I have talked to a couple of coaches / athletes about this.
>Something sport related endurance (running, gym or something like that ) for 1-2 hours in the morning
>Technique training 2-3 hours
>Sport related strength /speed training 1-2 hours late in the day
They mix it up and sometimes do more of one or leave out a different one ect but they spend 6 hours minimum 8 maximum a day. When you are payed to do a sport and have someone taking care of your nutrition and schedule you can handle a lot of training
