I only find it useful for triceps. But that's because I am incapable of doing other tricep excercises because of my deformed bone disorder. Other that that, you can use it for pullups.

Yes, because with cables every part of the lift is same, I mean you need the same amount of force and you can go really slow while with dumbells you swing a little. Do both. I'm skipping cables pretty much because I jerk on barbells, but cables can be useful, especially in bodybuilding.

They're more convenient. Switch weight a lot more quickly than changing plates on a bar, plus there's nothing to put away afterwards. I do loads of accessory cable work, I just use free weights for the big lifts really, and curls.
