Im 5'9 260 btw. Finished my heavy lift 5x5s and accessories so I hopped onto a elliptical with an HR monitor and was able to keep my heart rate at 168-170 for 12 minutes straight (this is %90 of my max HR)

My resting bpm on average is 63.

Come at me white boys
>>
I also used to keep my heart rate above 165 for half an hour or more when I was regularly doing cardio after lifting.

How awesome am I?
>>
5'7"
265lbs
i run a 5k in 23 minutes on a treadmill

What the fug is this image.

Wow, thats pretty good. You ever wonder about dropping all the weight training and pounds and just being an endurance athlete? Or do you feel the strength from lifting is what helps?
>>
>5'10" manlet
>290 pounds
>run a 7 minute mile, 24 minute 5k

It's fun to outrun all these skinny dude to faggots I see everywhere
>>
> What's more, Lorenzo and other experts suspect that an obese athlete's body can actually become stronger from carrying its own weight. In essence, the extra pounds provide built-in resistance training, especially for the lungs, which can have trouble inflating fully when there is a lot of fat in the chest cavity. "The bodies of the obese athletes in our study have adapted after years of conditioning," Lorenzo explains. "They have developed an ability to generate higher airflow and deliver ample oxygen to their blood and muscles. For typical obese people who want to become active, this may mean that they are not going to have the limitations we previously assumed they would."

That's impossible

Another one https://youtu.be/NjoBeTYA5kE

Suck it white boi
>>
>>35261142
>>35261187
Neither of those people are morbidly obese though.

It's one thing to be athletic if you're like 5'10 210-220 lbs. It's completely different to be athletic when you're only 5'7 and weigh 265 lbs.

Strongmen confirmed for ultimate athletes
>>
>>35260176
>12 minutes of cardio
>strong
eheh what's your mile time bic boi?
>>
>>35261254
You obviously did not hear the fat guy state his weight as 240lb.

Also running/jogging for less than 30 minutes is way easier for a fat guy to do than back flips, cart wheels and b twists.

How retarded can you be?
>>
>>35260176
You're not that fat and your heart rate isn't that low tbqh
>>
>>35261284
This thread is about cardiovascular health not running performance.

Try and keep your heart rate at 90% for 12 minutes non stop. I bet you cant.
>>
>>35260176
Nigger.
>>
>>35260768
well no shit it's like training with a weighted backpack on 24/7. except the difference is that you can take the backpack off and be extra fast
>>
>>35260176
Do you have access to a pool?

If so then swimming will destroy any other form of cardio and build you amazing shoulders/midsection
>>
>>35261336
so you're saying that if you ran for 12 minutes at 90% of your max HR you wouldn't complete a mile?
>>
>>35260176
WE WUZ KINGS N SHEIT
>>
>>35261284
And to add I used to keep it close to 90% for half an hour when I did incorporate it into lifting.

Actual running 3.5 miles on the regular is something I want to do but would rather get my cardio health without fucking up my joints.
>>
>>35261346
I dont know how to swim.
>>
6'4" 241lbs
53bpm rhr

Come at me bros

I do hiit on the treadmill 8 x 1:30 letting my heart rate go back to 130 between sets.
>>
>>35261298
Not necessarily. Those things are tests of explosiveness and coordination. It's much easier for a fat guy to be explosive or coordinated than to have cardiovascular endurance.
>>
>>35261354
I would but I never timed a mile on track except doing intervals.

How much real running should I do a week without fucking my joints? Im thinking once or twice and just getting the rest of my cardio by other means
>>
>>35261421
you can keep the mileage down but definitely shoot for running on trails or grass rather than pavement. a soft surface is probably the most important thing to consider for joints
>>
OP here. Even as a fat guy who lifts I find cardio way more fun. I guess I really like how boring it is and fighting my lungs burning. Its kinda like meditation.

Ive thought about becoming an endurance athlete mainly and keeping weightlifting as a side bitch
>>
>>35260176
>5'9 260lb
>63 bpm

Nigga what? that's almost the heart rate of an athlete yours is definitely not that low.
>>
WE
>>
>>35261522
Nigga, 40~60 is a respectable athlete heart rate, he is very good tho, but is far from having that kind of endurance and horse power.

no you don't
>>
My resting heart rate is sub 50 and I haven't done serious cardio in years

>stay mad
>>
>>35261566
Holy kek, awesome job anon, how many times do you do cardio in a week and how much time?
>>
>>35261600
Even my dubs are sub 50
>>
>>35261566
Op here. I got a 54 once when lying in bed after waking up. Thats pretty crazy for a guy your size in the middle of the day. Pretty good.

>>35261559
Yeah, I guess horsepower and endurance is different that just resting heart rate or general heart health.
>>
>>35261628
these were just my dumb expressions but it's good to see you got the idea :^)
>>
>>35261142
>>35261187
>hurr durr that's totally possible, here look at examples of non-morbidly obese people doing non-endurance feats see what I mean
>>
>>35261606
I'm in the army, but i don't really count the cardio since i don't have control over it. I would probably say 3 hours of cardio a week from the army.

On my own i do hiit 3 times a week usually for about 40 minutes. Depends on how my heart is and how my diet is doing. I do heart rate based hiit.

Sundays i go ruck marching which is basically steady state cardio for a few hours.
