Hey /fit/ which would be better for MMA fights Judo or westling? I understang that judo focuses are throws, take downs and grappling but BJJ is more of grappling and ground fighting.

Which one and why also MMA thread

Go with wrestling.

A good BJJ gym will teach the parts of judo and wrestling that you need to know.
>>
Judo. Bjj is literally judo without throws

Just learn how to make pipebombs, fighting is for the poor
>>
Stop listening to all of these dumb fuckfaces learn eddie bravo jiu jitsu and learn your judo from an mma gym
>>
Judo
The MMA GOAT Fedor is a judoka as well as a sambo practitioner
>>
Judo is dank but so many people in MMA are getting their black belts in BJJ that you need to learn it if you don't want to get shrekt.

Other fighter's camp knows you don't know BJJ?
You're getting choked mate.
>>
I'd say Judo from my life experience.
Holds up in MMA and is pretty applicable to self defense in the real world
>>
>>35229593
Learn how to shoot, faggot.
>>
>>35229593
judo breh, bjj and wrestling are just excuses for straight guys to tease gay guys and caress butthole through thin layers of fabric. Heck look at the guy in the white pajamas in OP's pic he's sniffing the blue guys knee crease, weird shit mang.
>>
It depends on how serious you are about MMA.
Do you think of making a career out of it? If so BJJ is more useful because it can be applied better in an MMA fight. The learning curve is also steeper so the sooner you start the better. Private lessons are expensive, and following the standard gym schedule means it will take you years to progress through the ranks.

Wrestling is one of those sports if you haven't trained since you were a kid back in school chances are it's not even worth starting by now. The technical part of wrestling is very easy to learn, but the most valuable thing wrestlers carry with them to MMA is the strength, speed and stamina to apply them. Someone who has trained it since middle school will have by the time he's an adult developed the exact muscle groups, posture and stamina to rek anyone. If you're learning as an adult chances are you won't reach that GOAT combination and will be left with just the skills.

Judo is an art worth learning by itself. Doesn't have that many transferable skills to an octagon though. Do you have plenty of time in your hands? Go learn some judo. I honestly think it's better than BJJ for self defence. But if you have to squeeze it in a schedule where you will be training one of the above plus striking, forget about it because it will just make things unmanageable. BJJ and Judo are both surprisingly prone to injuries. Pick one and stick to it or you will be all over the place and spending too much time recovering to learn anything.

That's judo you fucknuckle

Both judo (1:2) and BJJ (2:1) have good ground to standing combat ratios. Those ratios change depending on coach and a good coach teaches closer to 50/50 than those. Pick one that seems to be a better coach and go hard
Wrestling is bad compared to either judo or BJJ in terms of throws or groundwork.
Also you need to have a good striking game so don't neglect that either

> Good
Of course ATOS will. Is OP likely to train at ATOS? Doubt it

OP is likely to train at an average gym, with average people, and likely no takedown specialist.

This man speaks the truth. I've been in three different BJJ schools, with guys who did BJJ and Judo, and from my anecdotal experience, thats the correct ratio. Its just a different focus but the skills can cross over.

Also, as others have mentioned, taking up wrestling for MMA, if you haven't done it in the highschool and college level, you will have a steep learning curve against you, and there really aren't schools teaching it as a stand alone art for combat. You'd be better off learning the counters to wrestling takedowns and holds, submissions off your back as wrestlers have a fantastic top game. Some mma fighters, like GSP, became fantastic wrestlers after starting MMA, and had no prior experience. It can happen, but you'll be better off taking bjj or judo.

Another note is I have noticed a lot of BJJ coaches come to it in a crosstraining mindset. Guys who were bjj blackbelts but have histories with wrestling in school or college, or judo or another a TMA. And ones that compete often are pulling in skills from the others. There is a lot of blending, especially with bjj blackbelts competing and looking to add their skill set, going to seminars and incorporating it back in their schools.

Aikido. It's so dangerous they don't allow its techniques in even the most hardcore vale tudo organizations.
>>
>>35232570
Don't be retarded, lots of BJJ and MMA gyms have wrestling coaches. Fuck there is a 10th planet gym here with a wrestling coach.

Op, did you ever think that there are schools that actually have MMA classes? You don't need to do BJJ or Judo or wrestling to grapple. You might be able to go do MMA grappling.

My recommendation would be not to waste your time with the gi unless you are into fancy pants pajama stuff or that is your only option.

Wrestling and BJJ translate better to MMA than Judo. You'd be surprised at how many MMA guys have black belts in Judo, yet you rarely see any of it in their fighting (Hector lombard for example - very high level Judoka)

Anyways, I guess I'm lucky in that our head coach has been around forever. BJJ+Shooto/Catch wrestling+Folkstyle is where a lot our stuff comes from, but he's learned so much other stuff that he throws in too.

I don't know how we'll manage it, but I'm up for anything long as you trim your nails.

I'll be honest I'm turned on right now.
>>
>>35232394
I have judo and bjj experience and either are better than wrestling alone.

HOWEVER

For MMA, I feel wrestling with striking is superior than either of the above paired with striking.

Which is better for me to find inner peace and tranquility? Looking to get into a martial art but my main focus is to give meaning to my life. Feels like I'm just going through the motions and hating myself more and more.
>>
>>35233140
its obviously Stoya.
>>
>>35232628

I use judo a lot in both wrestling and no gi. I might not have a fancy jacket anymore but there are still principles I can apply to my wrestling game (foot work, level changes and feinting for reactions)

If you had time, train both.

But I'm just a pansy grappler, if you're serious about mma you probably want to invest as much time as possible in boxing with just enough wrestling to defend takedowns.
>>
>>35234340
If you're one of these faggot types I'd recommend Aikido (calm) or Karate (self-centered, repetition til mastery, stable). At the very least find an eastern martial art, they start with a short meditation period and are much calmer in general imo.
>inb4weebshit
I'm not saying they're necessarily better, just better for this type of stuff
