Basicly, the amount of calories you eat above your maintainance calories, should not be a lot higher on your cheat days. it would put a stop to your progress if you strugle with eating at -500kcal each day. say if you eat 3000kcal over your maintenance, thats 6 days worth of cutting calories. does it make sense ? Dont cheat too much,
>>
>>35216642
needing a cheat day is a meme
very few people get depleted enough to actually require alarge amount of calories and carbs

if you have it just because you enjoy life and dont want to stay on shitty food all your life then just make it fit your deficit calories or evenyour maintenance cals
>>
Steroids are my cheat meal.
>>
On my chest day I eat at maintenance for the day.

how much fat can you actually put on in a day? Do all the calories get absorbed if Say I eat 10k cals of food?

>mfw doing keto eating bacon and cheese and tendies so I don't need cheat days
>>
Depends on your diet on the other days and why the cheat meal. Is it for reward, carb cycling, carb back loading? If your goal is purely weight loss and for reward/cravings you should only cheat every 6 weeks, not everyweek.
>>
I do cheat evenings, once every 10ish days

It's nice going to bed and not sweating profusely and farting everywhere
>>
>>35216642
if you do cheat days, just don't count your daily caloric deficit...
count your WEEKLY caloric deficit instead.

this way you are essentially doing the same thing as not cheating.

i prefer /intermittentfasting/

8.5 waking hours without food and i feel fine... as soon as i feel the slightest bit of hunger, i will gorge myself on food, and feel full well under my daily caloric allotment...

shit is pretty cash, desu... eat like a pig and lose .2lb a day (on average)
>>
>>35216665
absolutely 100000%

recovering fatass myself.
just a word to the wise, your goal weight is probably 20lb higher than it should be.

when i was 255 my goal was to get to 180lb... now that i am 182lb i see i easily have another 20lb to lose before i am truly lean (not jason blaha "lean)

just calculate your natty limit for your height
https://symmetricstrength.com/calculator/ideal_bodyweight

and realize you are NOT at the natty limit without having lifted... you have pounds and pounds of muscle to put on..
>>
>>35217784
i would imagine it depends on your fiber intake.

if you are eating enough fiber to poop that shit out the next morning, i highly doubt you would absorb 100% of the nutrients from it (And thus not 100% the calories)

that being said, if you are eating some clog-your-shit-up food.. you might come close to absorbing it all...

i know the protein absorption limit is a myth
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23260197

(there is a maximum amount you can SYNTHESIZE, but not a maximum amount to protein anabolism overall)

Been cutting for over a month and haven't had any cheat days. Had a couple cheat meals for breakfast (Sausage and Egg McMuffin) on some weekends. Not planning to have a cheat day until Christmas Day. Still going to have to have so modicum of self-control because I don't want to throw out all the progress I've made. Want to be 32 waist again by mid January at the latest.

I always wondered why people used it as proof that they could eat whatever they want.

>Olympic athlete at the absolute pinnacle of his sport who trains all day long every day of the week eats a shitload of food just to fuel his practice sessions
>Guess I can eat 5 cheeseburgers, ice cream and cookies today because I need fuel for my forty five minute workout
>>
>>35216642
Cheat days CAN help a lot...If you are cutting too hard,. and doing too much cardio, Eating a lot can reverse metabolic adaptation.I do a re-feed day (still 100-200 kcal under maintenance) every 3-4 days, and it helps the weight shed like Craaazy.
It's like... the first few days you cut you lose weight the fastest, and re-feeding allows you to experience that continually... Cheat days may or may not be a good way to go about that, depending on what you consider a "Cheat"
...If you are eating a surplus big enough to negate or significantly reduce your past deficit, obviously it is going to fuck up your progress.
>>
>>35218620
>tfw you are eating way too many SFAs to be considered a healthy diet by any academic or medical authority ever.
SFAs are great, even necessary to eat in high amounts if you are at a crazy low bodyfat (sub 8%)

but if you are a fatty looking to cut, you should be eating primarily MUFAs, with some PUFAs from time to time.

no more than 7% of your calories should come from SFAs

if you want to do keto, you still absolutely can, just switch out your fats from a healthier source.

there is really no objective benefit to doing keto, however.

Yes.
>Saturday is my cheat day.
No, it's your French day.
>Thats 4 days a month i eat poo poo food.
You're a poo poo. Eating right and healthy does NOT mean to eat poo or to eat something that tastes like poo.
From this phrase alone I can sense you're a hamplanet.
>Realistically what kind of effect will this have on my weight loss progress?
Realistically you aren't serious on your weight loss if you ask for excuses.
>>
I've been doing keto/low carb for about two months now, during which time I've had two cheat meals. I track my weight daily and I notice that my weight loss does stall out for 3-5 days afterwards.

>cheat days

for what?

chicken tastes awesome

every day is literally a cheat day for me

a healthy one lmfao
>>
>>35221313
Then go to maintenance for the day.
The point to take away, is essentially what >>35216694 was saying

If you eat at a 500 calorie deficit for 6 days but have a cheat day on the 7th day where you eat a 3000 calorie surplus, you've basically nullified all progress for the week.
Cheat days are usually meant for you to eat sweeter foods but still fitting it in your macronutrients for the day.
Honestly though, you have to learn to make healthy foods as tasty as the shitty ones you're used to.
Use spices and seasonings but prepare to eat potassium to counteract the effects of high sodium.

if you still manage the same weekly caloric deficit, and hit all your nutritional goals, it is fine.

it is generally a bad habit for most people to fall in
>>
>>35216642
Here's what you do senpai, just fast the following day.
>>
>>35216642
Cheat days set you back, but a lot of people need them as the hardest part of losing fat is the willpower aspect. You need to figure out what is best for you, cheat days, no cheat days or perhaps a cheat snack.
>>
>>35222640
the whole concept of cheat days is ridiculous. as if you deserve a *regular* reward for sticking to your diet. if you break diet once in a while, fine. just log the indiscretion and move on, but don't treat eating like a pig as some kind of fucking entitlement. if you do then you're not gonna make it. plain and simple
>>
>>35222652
and it's CHEAT MEAL. not a cheat DAY. there's no excuse for eating like a fat fuck for a whole day.
>>
>>35222617
fast the day before
earn your cheat day, faggot
>>
>>35222661
I just don't understand why people cheat meal. If I really want to eat out or something I just budget the calories for it and squeeze any further protein requirements into what calories I have remaining. If I'm really going all out I just allow myself to eat at maintenance that day and increase my deficit on the days before and after to make up for it.
>>
>>35222669
>I just don't understand why people cheat meal
Because sometimes you get a craving for a Big Mac after a week of eating clean? It's not really that hard to understand if you're not autistic.
>>
Yeah they are ok. Just push yourself hard the next day to use up those calories.
>>
>>35222675
read the rest of his post asstard. nothing wrong with eating a big mac any day of the fucking week as long as you budget it into your calorie and macros targets.
>>
>>35222675
so just budget the calories for it instead of trying to come up with justifications for sabotaging your deficit
>>
>>35216642
It's bad because you'll never properly give up shit food this way.
You need to grow out of eating this stuff. If you have a planned, regular cheat day you'll see your normal diet as bad and always look forwards to eating bad food. Just cut it out cold turkey, and only 'cheat' on birthdays etc
>>
>>35222683
>>35222686
How do you budget something you havn't planned for? The entire idea of a cheat meal is that it's unplanned. You can't 'cheat' your diet ahead of time you fucking idiots
>>
>>35222692
good point, you'd need some sort of amazingly advanced technology to figure out calories on the fly, if only such a thing existed
also
>implying these fatasses don't plan their cheat meals/days
>>
>>35222692
are you retarded? you having that big mac at 11:40pm after you've already eaten your entire days worth of food? then it's not a cheat it's just you being a fat fuck. you budget it either by eating less the rest of the day or eating less the day after. jesus holy christ
>>
>>35222704
>you having that big mac at 11:40pm after you've already eaten your entire days worth of food? then it's not a cheat
That's the very definition of a cheat you braindead worthless pile of shit. A 'cheat' you work into your diet isn't a fucking cheat, that's part of your diet
>>
>>35222711
that's the whole fucking point of the statement you were questioning earlier retard!! the fact that a cheat shouldn't happen in the first place since you can just balance the scale any way you want. "cheat days", "cheals meals" ETC are all for FUCKING FAT FUCKS who will NEVER make it
>>

>>
>>35216642
IMO there's 2 types of cheat days

>the one where you stay under your calorie limit but eat shitty food
eg 1700 cal in one day, consisting of chocolate cake and the like
>have these as often as you want, within reason. I see no issue with having these once a week

>the one where you go over your calorie limit
eg at a BBQ you are 2500 cal
>limit these at once per fortnight. And don't go on 4000 calorie binges. Relax, but don't go overboard

Seriously 90% of cutting is just a mental game
>why do you think anorexics do it so well?
