Why don't you swim every single day?

>godly cardio
>increases flexibility
>good for joints
>not boring like cycling or jogging
>see babes in bikinis
>acceptable to have your shirt off in public place

Well?

I swim pretty regularly but I just noticed recently that my hair has lost most of its colour from the constant exposure to chlorine. Feels pretty shit.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does your hair eventually return to its original colour?

East coast, dirty water, pools cost $$$ in gyms that I can't afford

>>
>>35192438
But there is nothing about swimming
>>
>>35192442
I lift weights 3 days a week and run and swim on off days. I don't feel like cardio really affects my weightlifting or vice versa. You have to eat a lot though. Like, eat like a fatass.
>>
>>35192415

Not really, don't listen to the memes here.

It's like most boards, full of people that give advice but aren't very experienced. People have the idea that swimming at a hobbyist level builds huge lats etc... Lol.

I swam competitively for 5 years as part of a team and there is always so much bullshit in swimming threads.

It's the latest meme. Don't swim for muscles or to look good. It's good for cardio and easier on the joints than other forms of exercise.

If your joints were decent and you were willing to take time to learn running form and decent shoes, I'd recommend running.

Clearly you never made it past training wheels.
>>
>>35192468
This. Same in every /swim/ thread. OP can never do anything else and does a meme special snowflake cardio. While it does have its benefits, I think there are other forms of cardio that would be much better for physically fit people.

And points like increased flexibility is pretty shit. If you want to increase flexibility, stretch for it. It is much more effective.

>waterproof headphones
Same here

After (at best) 45 minutes anyway there's at least some water in your ears/headphones, and you won't hear shit

>>35192132
I'm sorry for you
>>
>>35192447
it counts as cardio, there is nothing wrong with, but if your on cut/bulk remember to take account for it. In terms of building muscle, the water adds nice resistance, but remember the most important thing: progressive overload. as long as you increase length/intesity your doing everything right. I recommend you do SS + swimming on rest days. SS has been known to improve performance in most sports.

How come I feel so fucking hungry after swimming but not after running or bicycling?
>>
>>35192133
it should come natural, either way watch some videos on youtube and you should be good
>>
>>35192571
You dont realise how much energy you are using since your constantly being refreshed by the water and you can't tell your sweating. As a result, you exert more energy since you're at more optimal conditions compared to other cardio.

ive started getting some knee pains, been swimming for about 2 months now. Is this normal or am i doing something wrong? I only swim breaststroke btw.
>>
>>35195078
Switch it up. Do front crawl or backstroke or drills that utilize flutter kick. The torque you put on your knees doing breast stroke kick isn't going to help it feel better any time soon.

Nice b8. Your 3rd grade Guppy Swim League doesn't count as competitive swim bucko.

Because where I live you'd freeze your tits off in the winter.
>>
>>35195665
...swimming pools are indoors in winters usually, and if you don't live in a third world shit hole it's at a reasonable temperature

>>35192084
>chlorine
>>35192341
>chlorine

I developed some sort of allergy to chlorine vapours (because of a swimming pool with poor ventilation). I even switched pools for a while, but nothing helped: it seemed I was doomed to have a bad rhinitis for 12~24 hours after a 1 hr swim.

Now I go to a swimming pools for people affected by autisms and it's a blessing: the water temperature is 32 C, air is highly ventilated and the free active chlorine is at the legal minimum (0.7 mg/l Cl2) as it uses a UV rays to purify water for the most part.
Only 6 € for single ticket.
In my actual gym there's a pool too, but it's not ventilated as this one and it has 1.4 mg/l of free active chlorine.
>>
>>35192062
Because I don't need to do daily cardio, and I play rec soccer twice a week, so swimming twice a week is enough.
>>
>>35192062
I actually got back into swimming after being out of the pool for years. I'm still slim, but I'm having a hell of a time getting back at it. The technique ingrained in me is just too much for my body to deal with. Taking it slow and working back up has been a pain in my ass
>>
I'm black
>>
>>35192062
I do, it's awesome. It's one of the few redeeming qualities of my community college gym. Sadly I'm going to a commercial gym starting after Christmas and there's no pool :(
>>
I just started to a week ago. I'm a bigger guy 6'1 225, mediocre strong (500+DL, 315 bench natty) and felt like I was getting immobile AF. I felt better, more loose after only a few sessions of 20-35 mins.
