But what's the point? When I'm squatting 80 kilos, 2,5kilos won't make a difference on the weight. I can still squat that five times without any extra difficulty, so I won't get stronger because the resistance isn't increased. A 5kilo increase is noticable and will actually make it harder. I won't progress by adding only 2,5kg (and it looks like I'm weak). I'll progress by adding 5 kilos and the plates are bigger so I won't look like a tool when racking it.

I can't control my portions anymore

I've been on a 9 month cut and lost a ton of weight, but now I'm starting to break down slowly. I'm not eating garbage or sugar or anything, I just end up eating a lot of healthy food and still breaking my calorie cap. A 2,5lbs plate (1,25kg) is a rookie mistake and you're not supposed to use one because they are worthless. If you're so weak you can only handle a total of 2,5kg (5lbs) increase every week then you should just give up lifting.

I'll take my chances. I've got a 3.9 in a STEM major currently, so if I wanted to branch corps engineers I've been told I am almost guaranteed active duty. Been thinking of aviation though, I've got the grades and the eyesight, and it sounds fun.

I dunno if it changed since I commissioned, but having a STEM major didn't help my placement in the OML. Graduated with 3.0 in Engineering, at my university that was 0.3 GPA points higher than the average. OML didn't accept anyone for active unless they had 3.4 or higher. Didn't matter if you had a 3.5 in History at some easy as hell state college, or 3.0 in Engineering at one of the top programs in the country.

It's whatever though, I was SMP so it didn't matter in the end, but it's one of the reasons I'm glad I didn't go active. Other than the fact our Military is going to shit, we can thank Obama for that one.
