Hey /fit/ for Christmas I'm gonna complete my home gym by buying a squat rack, barbell, and more weights.

My questions are what type of barbell should I get, is it worth buying a really good squat rack, and is there a preferred brand of weight that I should buy? Also would be helpful if I could buy all of this from Amazon.

just use 4x4's, some concrete, and 2 five gallon buckets to make your rack, way cheaper

Yeah but pretty dangerous. Think of all the gains I would lose if I had to go to the hospital and eat hospital food.

Jesus I thought you were joking. Won't that break if you put enough weight on it?

not if you buy quality wood, if you want a power rack go this route

Wow did you build all of that? That's actually really impressive. Though I don't think I have the skills or time to build my rack out of wood.

Amazon has squat racks for 300-400 bucks with 1000 lb capacity and free delivery.

For your bar, don't skimp. Spend the money and it will last you.

Buy a power bar. Texas, Ohio, etc. Do your research, and it will last a long time.

Otherwise you'll end up with a fat chrome bar that eventually bends.

Weight-wise, check craigslist or a local fitness resale place to see if you can get plates for under a dollar a pound.

Then get some horse stall mats ($40 per 4x8") for your floor.

Maybe some dumbbells or resistance bands.

Cheap benches are under $100, but it's worth getting an adjustable bench if it is stable.

All in all, 1000-1500 dollars will have you set.

Check craigslist. I bought a power rack with a plate loaded cable machine (high and low positioning), cable attachments, an oly bar, an ez bar, 185 pounds of weights, an adjustable bench, a decline bench, and a weight stand for 375.

cant use it cause no room for it, but still.
