Bodyweight exercises and crossfit.
I'm not even kidding.

>what to train?
i am guessing parkour, brah
no but seriously, lifting probably wouldn't help much with parkour..
if anything some weighted plyo and calisthenics
>>35115422
Parkour technical training on a daily with a focus on repeating and refining techniques until they're perfect.
I'm talking about sessions where you repeat a movement at least 100 times REALLY well not just adequately.
Yes it will suck but it's the foundation you need to not have shite habits for the rest of your duration training.
Don't move like jesse la flair or others that can't land jumps for shit because their movement although is flashy is really unctrolled.
Think Phillip Doyle & Kie willis in terms of cleaness of movement and ability to stick landings and jumps well & Team Farang in terms of acro/flips.
Twice a week squat, deadlift, pressups, pull ups, dips, handstand press ups & muscle ups.
Do this for two years. Then consider other lifts.
I've been training for 11 years & it's job.
>>35115422
definitely don't train parkour
>>35115422
Have a little more self respect and just get into gymnastics. Seriously.
>>35115513
No don't do crossfit, it's not sport specific and you won't be good at parkour.
Bodyweight exercises work because they manipulate your body in space while developing strength which is why they're more transferable than crosfit.
>>35115519
Lifting can help but Squats & Deadlfits are all you should do to start. Once you get strong and the bodyweight exercises all you need to do is increase resistance with a weighted vest or dipping belt.
Don't do weighted plyos or any type of plyometrics that isn't parkour as you'll be doing enough jumping anyway and there's a lot of technical aspects you need to develop first.
Strength training from squats and deadlifts will increase you resistance to absorb impact from landings and your POTENTIAL (not ability) to jump further.

The landing and jumping technique in parkour vs gymnastics is different. The flips and prioperception/spacial awareness developed from gymnastics is great but gymnastics fucks your knees compared to parkour because you're using a blocking technique rather than pushing for all your jumps and landings.

>Lifting can help but Squats & Deadlfits are all you should do to start.
how would that be better for parkour leg strength than weighted plyo?
explosivity is more important than a strong squat, i should think..
if anything power cleans or muscle snatches..
also parkour is not training
plyo is training for being better at shit that is useful for parkour.
>Strength training from squats and deadlifts will increase you resistance to absorb impact from landings and your POTENTIAL (not ability) to jump further.
that isn't how you land from a strong fall, nigger

>What to train if i wanna do parkour
train legs. running and jumping.
also pullups.

mate mate mate whats ur fuckin name? Or name a few people you train with
>>35115619
>that isn't how you land..
All jumps you'll do in parkour requires you land. The hard part is the actual landing that's more physically taxing than the jumping aspect because you need to absorb the impact of the jump into your muscles rather than joints in order to keep training long term otherwise you'll drop out due to dodgy joints in 4-5 years
Even a standing broad jump at 80-90% your max requires you to absorb the impact. Now image you're doing that to a rail. Now imagine you need to be able to land on that rail without falling off most of the time. The number of jumps it takes a beginner to have the confidence to say they can repeatedly stick this jump 10 times a row is probably at least 100-200 repetitions total. 100-200 repetitions where you're not absorbing the impact into your joints and instead into your muscles is extremely taxing.
Increasing your base level of strength increases the amount of total force you'll be able to absorb. Considering your bodyweight wont be changing and the force you'll absorb for that jump will be fairly consistent the stronger your lower body and posterior chain is the easier it will find repeating those 100-200 repetitions.
In all sports strength is like a cup. Increase the size of the cup the more water you can fill the cup with.
>how would that be better for parkour leg strength than weighted plyo?
The main goal of someone training parkour isnt to jump as far as possible anyway so increasing rate of force production through plyometrics wouldn't be a primary focus anyway. Like I said before there's such a large vocabulary of movements in parkour to learn before you can consider strining movements together and move proficiently that the first 6months - 2 years the distance someone can jump wont be very important.
Yes weight plyometrics can increase strength too but there's also an element of risk to consider. Generally speaking one shouldn't even be doing ANY plyometrics without being able to back squat 1xbw

Parkour is training!
Parkour has plyometric elements.
When doing parkour you often find jumps that are near you maximum jump and you attempt these jumps until you do them.
The problem is that peoples perception of what parkour training is derives from YouTube and other media and it's very skewed. That's not parkour training. That's parkour playing.
Parkour training like anything else is a grind and repetition and constantly pushing your limits. It's a lot of failure but it's also a lot of success.
Finally people are built differently. If the goal is increasing jump distance people fall into three categories.
1) High rate of force production but low strength
2) Average rate of force production average strength
3) Low rate of force production but high strength
To become a better parkour or athlete in general they would need:
1) Increase strength through squats & deads and maintain rate of force production
2) Do plyos & squats and deads
3) Do plyos
Eventually after training a long enough time you fall into category 2 anyway but that will take years of training
