Why are you not doing the brazilian powerbuilding method? 70% increase in deadlift and 30% in bench and squat in elite athletes over a 16 week periode sounds great.

you're more likely to slip and fuck up your spine with a lax ball than a foam roller, let alone the fact you're gonna fuck up all your ribs and bruise all your muscles

use a foam roller and lean to the side - if its pure foam then theres basically no chance of fucking up your spine no matter how hard you try.

So lads, if I do have to push the red button, who has any advice for someone going on a smolov jr for bench. I'll have to go on a m/t/th/f schedule, plan on avoiding deadlifts entirely for the first two weeks, then gradually bring them in on the third at around 60%. I would like to keep up with squats, but obviously not at maximal effort.

I reall wish to keep my lower body more mobile, specially hamstrings and glutes currently.
I've been foam rolling around this area and stretching around said area, groin and hip flexors included but I was wondering...

Is there any good foam rolling and stretching programs I can do on my rest days?
I also need a middle / upperback roll or stretch of something.

I am worried of doing damage to my spine as I have an extra hard and spikes foam roller.

If I buy a lacrosse ball what can I do with it?

Many thanks and I apologise for being so uneducated.

Lads I've got a question.

For a full meet its better to be a deadlift specialist than a squat specialist, and better to be a squat specialist than a bench specialist, right?

So why isn't there a way to make all three lifts equally useful to your overall result?

its not necessarily better to be a deadlift specialist over a squat specialist though. Pick one and excel in it, then have a fairly good other one and fairly good bench.

>>35116535
Well as of now I'm running the base template and I'm just having some fun hitting PRs, so I'm not really following a program
Anyway, that's how I've been doing it:
Monday:
-Competition Squat (w/ belt, etc..) @rpe 7, @8,@9 and 2 backoff sets (I vary no. of reps from week to week)
-Competition Bench - same scheme as squat
-Some high volume bench variation such as close grip bench, incline bench, close grip floor press, done for multiple sets of 6-8 @rpe 8
Wednesday:
-Competition DL - same as squat and bench
-Bench variation, either pin presses from chest level or pause benches, with a similar scheme to comp movements, but with more backoff sets (4 usually)
-Squat variation, such as front squats, pause squats, tempo squats, done with a similar rep scheme as monday's bench variation.
Friday:
-Squat Variation, similar exercises as wednesday's, but with comp movements rep schemes.
-Touch and go bench, done for highish reps at high rpes (9 or 10), 1 or 2 backoff sets
-bench variation, done like monday
Saturday:
-Deadlift variation, stuff like deficit deadlifts or block pulls, rep scheme similar to friday's squat variation
-Bench overload variation, mid range pin presses or board presses, done for few reps (2-4), with rep scheme similar to comp movements.
-Some hamstring work, such as stiff legged deadlifts or RDLs, done for high reps and sets

That's it, I usually do some light back work at the end of each workout.
>>
>>35116629
front delt/pec insertion area, it's bit vague in feeling too can't pinpoint it
flyes and benching near bottom irritates it, as does wiping my ass, only two i found so far, can ohp fine for example

it feels more shoulder than pec region but seemingly only pec stuff hurts, same region that feels a stretch during pec flyes for me
>>
>>35116648

Yeah, he pretty much uses that template in every program he makes, I really like Tbh. RPE is kind of difficult to guess at first, but gets easier and easier the longer you try to guess it. As for exercise selection, add them based on your weaknesses. As for reps, I like doing a simple wave leading to the meet, such as 6-5-4-5-4-3-4-3-2-3-2-1-deload and meet week for the comp movements, you could go for a similar approach but with different reps on your variations
>>
Have it on good authority that I could sign up USAPL and compete right now as long as I wouldn't test positive. I think the two year thing is what happens if you get caught while competing.
Looks like I'm bulking to 120 and I can get a "real total"
>>
>>35116796

>>
>>35116739
The strange thing is that in training my deadlift always feels stronger, I can do more reps with the same weight compared to my squat. Yet, at very very high %, my deadlift just hits a wall where I can't even lift the barbell off the floor.
Good luck on your test btw!
>>
>>35116816

Also how far are you from the happening?

>>35116954

>deadlift just hits a wall
you think it might be a grip problem, it happens to me too, even tho my grip doesnt let go, it does loosen and i think that may be restricting me from pulling through, read that before here anyway and i need some excuse

>Good luck on your test btw!
i-its a meet but thanks
>>
>>35116996
The most likely culprit is pec minor then, it's just weird that the pain doesn't refer down the arm at least a little, I'd possibly get it checked, but if it's very minor of an injury, then you should be fine

Good luck with rehab though senpai.

Regardless, you'd be blind (or really too young) to see what powerlifting has -become-.

Raw, drug free, IPF master-race, etc. All that shit is brand new. The elitism that came with it is annoying.

Powerlifting doesn't need to be in the olympics.

It started as the 'odd-lifts', and it should stay the pissing contest that it is.

If you want to hate something, do it professionally (quote that holds true for a lot of things).

There is nothing wrong with that, but the IPF has tried to monopolize the drug-free raw community via "legitimacy".

All the equipment limitations and fear-mongering via bans is just silly.

There are plenty of feds with tested and untested competition, along with raw divisions as well.

Did my volume work based on the rep maxes I set on Monday and Tuesday. It took up less time than I expected. Might move things around a bit.
I'm doing fullbody every day this week (two days of rep maxes, two days of volume, and two days of speed work). I'm thinking about doing upper/lower instead though.

Look at it this way:

To compete means "to seek together".

I'm an advanced lifter, and I've done this.

Sometimes it is technical failure. Wait a few days, hit it again.

Deadlift, not so much. If you're fried, you're fried sometimes.

Not everybody is such a coward about it.

I'm a master/elite lifter within my fed.

I agree about getting stronger to break personal bests, but sometimes you just have to nut-up and go for it.

What if he is plenty strong, but it was just a bad day? Why completely reset when you could give it one more week and hit the lift?

I max or test a lift via AMRAP at least a couple times per month. It's not that bad.

The problem is that too many people get caught up in chasing PR's for too many weeks straight, then crash hard.
>>
Bulking season lads
Feels good man
>>
>>35118378
the point is that if it isn't at a comp, the lift doesn't matter. if you could've gotten it it was just a bad day or you misgrooved, set it as your training max and continue on. what difference does it make?
>>35118375

I agree. This is a mature mindset.

However, too many "intermediate" guys around here program hop every time a lift gets tough.

They reset and reset and reset and before they know it, they're still an intermediate.

eh i don't have much of a problem with program hopping depending on the situation. if it was a 20lb PR and they could've had it but didn't sleep the night before, yeah they shouldn't deload or reset or program hop, but if they actually saw no gains in an entire training block then something is wrong and a different program could be the answer.
