Skeletors can have abs, but that doesn't mean they have great core strength. I don't believe body weight ab exercises add a lot to add strength, I really liked holding a dumbbell on my chest and doing sets of 15-20 sit-ups on the incline sit-up bench.

Tldr: core strength is important so do abdominal exercises.

Doing levers and planches is one of the greatest ways to make your abs stronger- you can't only do weighted torso flexion exercises and expect to perform advanced calisthenics movements with any success, no matter how strong you get on weighted crunches and squats

Also, as far as powerlifting goes, bodyweight is irrelevant and shouldn't be the standard. It should be based on your height. which is indicative of your skeletal frame and bodily proportions.
