Predators need to be efficient and fast. Size is the domain of large herbivores that use that size for defense. Hippos, rhinos, buffaloes. Humans hunted them to extinction, but auroches were half again the size of buffalos even. In the sea, orca are quite small compared to whales. Even boars are larger than their primary predators.
