It's not consistent and highly depends on your fat distribution and also on how trained your abs are + genetics. But I'd say for most people, abs won't be visible. For most people they become visible at around 12, 13%bf. Whether they become visible when you are flexing them or laughing/coughing, I don't know. I don't care, as nobody cares.

Uh m8, have you looked at BMI charts lately? I'm the same height as you and to be at 10% body fat, I have to weight about 130. You have a lot more body fat than you think you do. If you're anything like me your body distributes fat relatively evenly and doesn't store it all in the torso, but I'm telling you ya gotta drop weight. I used to weigh 160 and looked maybe a tad chubby but people still thought I was skinny. 30 pounds later and I can finally see the stark difference between skinnyfat and low body fat

I think being cut with abs is a good goal to strive for, as long as you make your shoulders pop.

imo the key to good ottermode is shoulders/lats to get a nice V taper. along with chest. I see ottermode as more than just being skinny though, almost like your body after a good cut.

Yeah, 20% you're going to have a bit of a gut, they'd be under that I'd say. The issue with using muscle definition to guess bodyfat is that bigger muscles will always be more defined.

15% bodyfat on someone that's been working out for 2 years will look very different to 15% on a completely untrained person.

Most people who lift are a lot higher body fat than they think they are, having muscles just stretches the skin out so it looks tight.
I'm 19% and still have the tiniest bit of a gut, I also have shit genetics that would look great if I was bear mode.

Without working out core and making the muscles bigger than they should be, at 14% you would just start showing abs.
At under 13% you would have abs, without any core workout involved.
You can calorie deficit your way to abs if you wanted to, without doing a single workout.

It does, it's why high level bodybuilders of powerlifters still look decent at higher levels of bodyfat, because that muscle is absolutely visible even through the fat. I don't mean super heavy weights, either, before someone posts a fat powerlifter and says they look bad. No-one looks good at 30%bf

And people do get like that all the time, you see skinny kids with abs all the time, it doesn't mean anything about their actual strength levels or if they work out, just that they don't eat much at all.

I'm 5'8 and to get to 10% for "muh abs" I had to drop to 120-125lbs. I was 9% BF with DL at 225lbs 3x5 and DB chest incline chest flies at 50lbs DB.

Skelly reporting in, been working out at home with dumbells and doing curls, pushups, pullups for the past month, gained 5kg (11lbs)

I can see slight improvements of my body and honstly im happy with my slow progress, if i keep doing this will i ever reach ottermode?

Currently im 6'2, 138 lbs

Anything else I could do from home to improve my progress, any program or diet I should follow? I also work manual labor 44h a week which i think helps to keep me in shape at all times
