how do i hold the bar when doing dead lifts? i keep dropping it, not because my body cant handle, but because my grip strength is too weak. pls help

>use mixed grip
>use chalk
>hold your last reps in the completed position
Hook grip master race.
>>35074591
train grip strenght

don't rush to put it in your mouth. keeping it in your hand for longer. work up to that grip'o'death.
do this to completion for a couple of guys a day, and you'll be doing great on the bend-over hoist soon enough.
I have the weirdest grip. I basically hold the bar with my fingers, and my thumb is hanging loosely without really applying much force when deadlifting

use straps, but in the meantime train grip strength.
there seems to be a meme going around that working your forearms is somehow bad, but it is one of the greatest things you can do, or else all of your pulling lifts will be limited by forearm strength,
farmer's carry is best, though static holds are good too (its really best to walk around, though)
plate flips, plate pinches, forearm rollers, single-arm dead hangs (do flutter kicks while hanging for a harder workout, similar to how walking is better than static holds)

that's a regular overhand grip, afaik

To be fair, it depends on the person. I was pulling ~500 and rack pulling ~600 without ever doing any grip specific work.
I do some now, because it definitely became a problem afterwards, but how soon you need it (or, potentially, if you ever need it) is highly individual.
Farmer walks worked for me. My grip would start slipping at 3pl8s and fucked up my form. I also did one pl8 deadlifts for 10 reps while keeping a firm grip on the bar. It helps.
Mixed grip gave me a trap imbalance as well.
>tfw managed to get 200kg for 5 double overhand
>never done mixed grip or used straps
>forearms are as big as my biceps
Feels popeye man
>mfw hands slipping despite of hook grip
I have to buy me some chalk.

ye chalk is love

I want this senpai... been training grip by holding the last set of every pull until it slips out of my hands and then doing farmer walks. what do you do fro your strong hands?
>>35074591
Heavy sets use mixed grip, any rep count over 5 use double overhand. Do farmers carries
>>35075644
I did a lot of weighted towel pullups for a while, and now I just use fat grips.
High rep deads
False grip deads
Static holds
False grip rows
Getting some farmer carry handles soon so I'm keen as fuck for those
My fingers are too short for hook grip. So I have to rely solely on my grip strength.
