Who /ohp/ here?

OHP, The Press, whatever you want to call it, it's more than a lift to me - it's a gesture. It's the paramount assertion of strength and dominance that exists in our lexicon of body language.

It's not pulling weight off the ground, it's not putting it on your back, it's lifting it straight up towards the sky in a display befitting of a brazen conqueror.

The message it sends is clear - "I am strong." It's an image rooted deep in our primal psyche, the triumphant alpha male lifting the lifeless body of his vanquished foe, daring all challengers, shaming any who doubted, standing proud and reveling in his own glory.

So I'll ask again, who /ohp/ here?
>>
>>35068114

Anyone who jizzes all over themselves thinking about OHP should be doing oly lifting to be honest family
>>
>>35068114
This is literally the meme-lift before diddlys
>>
>lifting weights is my life so here's some shit I scribbled down 5 minutes ago
you pathetic little fuck
>>
i mean i agree with all that but how much do you lift OP
>>
>>35068114
Are you just asking for people to post fedoras?
>>
OHP is my favourite lift

120lbs max lifting for 4-5 months
>>
~**Overhead press almost as much as I bench crew**~

Push press, game over.
Clean and press, oh holy shit.
>>
>>35068114
On push/pull/legs
Do bench on 1st day and ohp on 2nd day
>>
OHp i feel is probaby a meme lift, but I do it anyways because I love the shit out of it. Currently hit PR's the last 4 ohp training sessions after months of stalling. Im gonna make it guys.
>>
i have no idea why but my ohp completely BTFO of my shitty BP and rows

right now i'm doing 100lbs 3x5 and i basically do the same for BP and Rows

isn't it supposed to be the other way around? i thought ohp was supposed to be one of the more challenging lifts? maybe my bp and rows just suck and need more work
>>
Waiting for "The Press" picture.
>>
>>35068840
why not heavy bench (sets of 3-4reps) and lighter ohp (sets of 6-8reps) on one day
and heavy ohp and lighter bench on other push day

this worked for me best when i was running ppl
>>
>>35068114
I find myself in agreement. Its my favorite lift. Finally hit lmao1pl8 for 5 reps. Feels good man
>>
>>35069609
I do dumbell press on 1st and close grip on 2nd day

Just got a beginner barbel set and as a result just started OHPing. Used to do bodyweight for a few months. Can do 95lbs for 8 reps. You really do feel like a badass even with babyweight.

Hit 80kg last week can't wait to hit 100

This is low quality bait
>>

WHY IS SO FUCKING HARD?

Why must I suck so much at it?

Is 95lb X 5 reps good at 115lb body weight?

Should a water a belt for ohp?

I've felt charitable enough to divert a moment of my time from writing best-selling novels to sharing my love for the quintessential Lift of man with my fellow fitness enthusiasts on this Taiwanese Child Purchasing Symposium.
Does this bother you, friendo?

>tfw manlets jerk 3 times their body weight because they're fast little fuckers.

Meanwhile I press three times their body weight, not mine.

Good for you, your bones can handle weight. You know how to lock it out and duck under a bar after practicing for years.

>either you got it, or you dont" kind of lit
what
>>
>>35076263
I meant lift, not lit. I'm so bad with typos jesus.

But what I meant was I have always been a good presser, it took zero effort for me to hit my ultimate goal (at the time) Mean whIle deadlifts just fucking go no where.

Where as some people can pound away at it for mknths, even years, and it won't budge.
>>
>>35076082
I am just joking. Wouldn't it be fun if i was OP and talked all that about OHP while being really bad at it?
>>
>>35076283
>I have always been a good presser

Lol this reminds me of when EVERYONE, literally EVERYONE says they're great at leg press
>>
>>35076340
Well let's just say with my heaviest bands from elitefts (150lbs max) I can leg press 450 for 15 with bands. So, I mean...I'm pretty beast

I do, but it's starting to stall and i don't know how to push past.

Little background.

In march my OHP was 95lbs for 1x5
My max now is 170. And i train it doing 3x5, but i feel like my weight/rep scheme is limiting me. I OHP on my push day right after benching. I use weights ranging from 135-145 for my sets of 3x5.

How do i push past this plateau. I don't like my OHP lagging behind my bench (235). They're like 65lbs apart!
>>
>>35078534
I made a 12 page workshop for ohp if you want it
>>
>>35076391
I tried to do this but despite controlling my spinal posture this form puts excess strain on my stability, is there any way to improve it?

Legs already widened, I thought about buying new shoes but the ones i have atm isnt bad.
>>
>>35078590
Yeah i wouldn't mind taking a gander at it. Link me.

This is what I did to get my 300lb log clean and press, and what I'll continue to do tell I have a 400lb oNE

If there's anything you'd like me to add, feel free to tell me

>>35078641
I keep my feet fairly narrow, pointed out. Same wih knees. This way if I need to dip and press I load my hips and not my knees. This also helps with stabiliy
>>
>>35078641
you have to work on shoulder mobility. it has little to do with feet
>>
>>35078702
>>35078784
i see, thanks

Squat, The Swaat, whatevery you want to call it, it's more than a lift to me - it's a gesture. It's the paramount assertion of strength and dominance that exists in our lexicon of body language.

It's not pulling weight off the ground, it's not putting it in your hands, it's lifting it straight up towards the sky in a display befitting of a cro magnon cave man.

The message it sends is clear - "I am strong." It's an image rooted deep in our primal psyche, the triumphant alpha male lifting the lifeless body of his vanquished foe, daring all challengers, shaming any who doubted, standing proud and reveling in his own glory.

So I'll ask again, who /squat/ here?
>>
>>35076340
fuck this m8s.

I can only comfortably leg press what I squat. seriously, what's up with that?

I see guys load up like 6 plate on the leg press and they don't seem that strong. im not even joking when i say 2 plate (as in 80 kilos in plates) is an effort for me. i have very long legs and i bring my knees to my chest. could that be it?

I use working sets on squats that are between 10 and 20 kilos heavier than my leg press
>>
>>35078966
It could be feet placement. I can do about 700+ for reps if my feet are in the right spot otherwise it hurts, I can't get deep enough, I'm weak, it's terrible
