squats, more explosive power, though deadlifts are still very practical for things like grappling and other pulling movements
>>
Highbar/Front squats

squats

>>35040254
cleans
>>
>>35040390
Limited amount of time
Even if you do both you would still consider whether to do it 2:1 ratio, 1:1 ratio, 4:1 ratio, etc
>>

lowbar squats train exactly the same posterior chain & hamstring of deadlifts. Lowbar squats are for powerlifters, since you can put more weight than with deadlift - usually.

Highbar squats train quadriceps and stresses less the lumbar position; OTOH it doesn't focus on hamstrings

I'd do highbar squats and deadlifts; probably in boxing hamstrings are more relevant than quads (just a speculation), in that case go for deadlifts (or lowbar squats if you want to add more weight: you probably don't want this and you want to focus on endurance rather than on strength or hypertrophy)

This, if you can't do it, then:

Neither. Use the time to skip rope multiple times a week, pull ups, dips, prison squat for high reps, running

curls

>boxing
>training legs
Why? If you want to squat and deadlift for the sake of doing it, just squat and deadlift. If you want to do something to improve your boxing game, do something that will have literally any carryover into boxing.

I do MT and Wrestling, for me there is carryover to have strong legs and core muscles, but I can't imagine any carryover if you just want to run around in circles in a ring.

This nigga asked if he should into t-rex mode for boxing. Just because you're impersonating someone with a small amount of experience in combat sports (which you haven't named) doesn't mean nobody else can help answer sticky-tier questions.

What's up with all of these new boxing wannabes?

First of all, get a trainer. It doesn't matter which is better because you probably don't know how to box and won't last a single round in the ring.

Short answer, neither. Get a competent coach and prove to him you're deserving of his time and attention.

doesn't beta alanine give you a better pump? That would suck for boxing. I remember one time during a practice I had a pump in my shoulders from the push ups we did during warm up. Wasn't very fun to train hooks with that.

Training prior to tourneys we would have a weight day to which we would dead lift big time 5 x 5 style shit. Never got into squats (I did them) To me they are just a meme exercise I played football at uni too and i gotta tell you cleans/deadlifts shit on squats everyday.

Im about 17 or 18 in this pic btw. 22 now
>>
>>35044661
1. would you outline the routine please?
2. would five sets of five be sets across or ramping sets?
3. how often and how hard would you spar?
>>
>>35040401
>>35040832

I'd say proper ATG squats teaches explosiveness just as well. Especially if you do pause squats.
>>
>>35044661
Squats are the king of exercises. Your opinion is both wrong and stupid.
>>
>>35045157
I was in a camp prepping for olympics a lifting routine would vary between a strength style or a circuit in push/pull variants

Example would be:
Deadlifts: 5x5
Cleans:3x5
pullups: 5 set as many as possible
Then some other pull style exercises

The things we really really focused on were the deadlifts, cleans, Overhead press, pullups/pushups, incline (no clue why), and the jammer machine.

I trained 2-3 times a day morning would be a run and some flow drills (light sparring 10-30% focusing on moving and continuously punching) along with bag work
The second session would be the weights
at night I would be back to do mitts they had me doing 10 rounds by 3-5 minutes and it was fucking miserable. After that I would break and spar some light to medium. If it was a night where we were gonna actually go hard as fuck with sparring which was once a week or twice sometimes once every 2 weeks. I would not do mitts these nights We would go nuts and vaseline our faces gloves helmets all that.
>>
>>35045767
You no like my meme exercise, you dumb!!!11one!!! I never said they are awful they just arent as beneficial for boxing or mma is as deadlifts.
>>
>>35045157
the sets were ramping I was 155 about these were my sets
225 x 5
315 x 5
365 x 5
405 x5
315 x 5

>>35040254
just do all the big movements, i did SL for like a year before i started boxing and my coach said i had great power for my size

Good luck battling a Man whose posterior chain can release a lethal amount of concentrated kinetic energy kiddo.
>>
>>35045769
Boxing-noob here, why do you put vaseline on everything? (Just curious)
>>

>>
>>35045769
>>35045800
nice. thanks for the reply

this may be broscience, but a straight punch to the face of an opponent of your height would be about the same angle of the incline bench. but maybe they just want a bench variant that demands more of the shoulders
>>
>>35046459
Terrible advice
>>
>>35044661
i'm getting into amateur mma and i tend to favor squats over deadlifts for a couple of reasons

1. increasing your squat will make your deadlift stronger because it has huge carryover - the opposite may not be true
2. deadlifts are hard to recover from
3. power cleans involve a pull from the floor identical to the deadlift - but it's done with lighter weights so it's easier to recover from and it's a quick lift
>>
>>35046360
Isn't vaseline just mineral oil
Mineral oil can be taken as a laxative, so it's even safe to use orally
>>
>>35046713
It's dirty coal residue oil
>>
>>35046726
It's made from petroleum
>>
>>35046592
if i did a PB for deadlifts would that affect my training the next day ie chest and arms...i had to lower my weights the next day as i felt weak
>>
>>35045993
yes, but also
>go for deadlifts (or lowbar squats if you want to add more weight: you probably don't want this anyway
