I actually gained nearly 2 inches in height over the last year doing dead hangs twice a day. Obviously this is due to a compressed spine, not growth of any form.
I also foam rolled religiously.

Just depends if your back has any compression to decompress, I would do 2 sets of deadhangs for 1 minute morning and night, with my 2 sets of stomach vaccums in between. You can make it a PNF stretch too, which I think helped.
