outsider scum with some questions to pose to an entertaining board

Why are /fit/izens obsessed with gains and becoming massive? Aren't smaller athletic builds and diets, as you might see with runners and swimmers, more preferable from a health perspective in every respect? Are your obsessions with putting on mass rooted more in a testosterone-fueled desperation for physical power or sexual fixation than a desire to become healthy? Does looking at yourself in the mirror turn you on?

Why not visit the pool or track instead of the weights, big boys?

>Why are /fit/izens obsessed with gains and becoming massive?
Insecurity, self loathing, body dysmorphia and an adolescent fantasy that if they get swole enough, everything will be okay in the rest of their sad lives.

>Aren't smaller athletic builds and diets, as you might see with runners and swimmers, more preferable from a health perspective in every respect?
Yes. Straight women also find them more attractive. But the fitness subculture and industry aren't about health, they're about vanity. In the case of /fit/, it's about appeasing the male ego.

>Are your obsessions with putting on mass rooted more in a testosterone-fueled desperation for physical power or sexual fixation than a desire to become healthy?
Obviously.

>Does looking at yourself in the mirror turn you on?
Actually, no. The more swole a fitizen is, the more dysmorphic they tend to be. The only people who really love looking in the mirror are the skinnyfat fags who have been training two months and think they're Mr. Olympia. That's the other end of dysmorphia.

>Why not visit the pool or track instead of the weights, big boys?
See first answer.

>Why are /fit/izens obsessed with gains and becoming massive? Aren't smaller athletic builds and diets, as you might see with runners and swimmers, more preferable from a health perspective in every respect?

It has never been about the health, it's mostly to improve how we look aesthetically and as a medium to vent. And while many of us didnt aspire to become huge and massive from the very beginning, once you start lifting you never feel adequate. When your arms are 12 inches you think about how good you'll look with 15 inch arms. When you have 15 inch arms you think about 18 inch arms. Same reason why few men are satisfied with their dick lengths and it's the same attitude most people have towards money
>>
>>34986443
Frame/bone structure is everything. Swimming and running are better when looking at it from wholistic, healthy approach.
People who lift weights to add muscle to compensate for having a shit frame.
>>
>>34987991
actually running is not the best for you, cycling would be much healthier

Because this board is full of kids and idiots.

1. Aesthetics is a stupid goal. Beauty is temporary and subjective. Strength in mind and body are valid goals.

2. If you're going to the gym for hypertrophy only, you're not gonna make it. By that I mean, make it to 60. Heart disease affects people with roid delts and 10% bodyfat. You gotta run and eat whole grains and get your heart muscle on point too.

3. There's fucking bioscience everywhere here. Working out every day destroys gains. Cardio destroys gains. No post workout shake destroys gains. All bullshit, especially the meal timing one and the 1g/lb protein myth. Utter nonsense unless you're training take a competition level. And you ain't.

I've never really been good or proud of anything in my entire life. I was mediocre at teamsports, i was even worse at individual sports, i've always been average height, had average grades, average dick, average looks, i now work an average job with average pay.
Then i found weight lifting, it started out as a hobby but now it's just so much more. People actually come to me for advice and i feel proud of my achievements. It has nothing to do with lifting for girls or anything, its just that for once in my life im actually good at something, and let me tell you it feels great. I know im never gonna be the next bill gates or lebron james, but lifting gives me a sense of purpose and its usually what motivates me while i sit in my cubicle. It's kinda sad, i know, but its better than playing 6 hours of league of legends/wow like i did before.

Not a bodybuilderesque physique but "jacked" my girlfriend said that she doesen't want me to get "too big" as i were a real skellington when i started and im not even big now, but she loves to touch my muscles.

Lol, straight women might SAY they like the thin build, but that's because that is what the media sells them. I promise you, bigger dudes have a much, much easier time getting laid compared to thinner ones.
>>

>hips as wide as shoulders
im sorry
>>
>>34992212
Yep it's p shitty, but it's better now, actually using my shoulders / lats have made it look like i don't have as wide hips.
>>
>>34992406
its all about that illusion. Good news is you can work lats & delts to change your ratio. Just don't become a t-rex or squat too much.
>>
>>34992199
That's not what the media sells at all. Beefcakes are the staple of almost every Hollywood blockbuster, muscular characters are consistently portrayed as the object of obsession of many girls in shows, every exercise or fitness commercial shows off machines designed for gains and jacked "after" users, etc. Thinner athletic builds are basically not present in "media," much less any depiction of them as sex machines indulging frequently in bitchmongering.
>>
>>34986443
Why is phelphs so good at swimming yet such a shitty person?
>>
>>34992212
I'm always paranoid about this.

My hips are maybe as wide as the bottom of my ribs too
>>
>>34992452
Guess it depends a bit on your definition of "thinner" and beefcake, but the media portrays desirable men as muscular to an extent far below what people on this board tend to strive for.

Not all those who post here are obsessed with size and mass but the ones who are seem to have the loudest voices. Maybe they are the most insecure and seek approval from other's and if they can not find it they must force it.

It doesn't matter what women SAY, me and everyone else who has gotten bigger KNOWS, through direct experience, that women prefer men with big muscles.

>at age 22 had slept with 3 women

>have slept with well over 60 women.
>dating a super qt
>my Dad's girlfriend openly touches my muscles every time she sees me
>women always much nicer to me, joke around more

If I get bigger and this stuff stops, then I know I've gone too far. But I don't really see that happening.

They are otter mode personified.
Which is why otter mode is no good. You are correct to judge their physiques harshly. But your judgement is erroneous.

>your entire female ancestry is unconcerned by the aesthetics when they see all the gold medals.

Tfw not eating >10k cal daily and still having visible abs.
>>
>>34993682
Yeah, not disagreeing with that, their bodies aren't designed for aesthetics, they're for their sport, and they obviously know more about what's efficient there than I do.

>>34993757
Again, not judging their athleticism, but people who act like otter mode like that looks any good are retarded, it looks unbalanced, but obviously that's not a factor when you're a professional athlete that's got a career based on being as good at your chosen sport as possible.

They still look shit though.

It's piss-poor and one more indication of your transparent tactic of saying "oh I'm so above that" whenever you can't actually figure out how to oppose something. You're not smart; you're just supercilious.

>Great strawman
Even were it a strawman and irrelevant to the comparison (which it isn't) you're misinterpreting, and generally being a twat.

>Full retard.
And again with the dumbshit pretentiousness. But what do I care. Go on; vote, consume, alimony. Live mediocre and do nothing of meaning, die mediocre and leave nothing behind.

You CAN actually beat the truth into someone, contrary to popular belief. You just have to Ludovico their eyes open and keep showing them a graphic enough example of the shit their beliefs lead to. But it takes so much time and so much out of you. And then you come to the crux of the matter, which is that even if you manage to reeducate them, this is still someone with a mind so cretinous and inane that they could let themselves be convinced that e.g. representative democracy was a good idea in the first place.

It's not efficient to try to convince people like you of anything. You're only useful for raw materials.
