Simple answer; Depleting yourself of carbs, causes your body to use to glycogen stored in your fat to turn it back into glucose to be used an energy. As time goes by (week or so) you're body will begin to take the glucose in the liver and once thats depleted your body will begin to produce ketone, most of your bodies cells can run on ketones, the rest will just take the glucose from reserved fat cells in the body.

Again many of the studies that I've been shown are usually from a click bait article, that forget to add that even with a life style change that these people that tend to get colon cancer would most likely get it anyways.

I've met vegans and vegetarians that were living that life style for 15+ years and they have cancers in the stomach and colon.

I've met a lady that had stomach cancer and with proper treatment and become mostly vegetarian (eats only organic meats one in a while), went into Spontaneous remission.

I've met to people that eat horrible but never have had any issues expect type 2 diabetes (later in life) which can be controlled with proper eating.

Actually the opposite is true, the hard proof is the direct causal evidence where they're studying the actual carcinogenicity of the food. That doesn't make any sense if they're the same compounds, digestion doesn't work like that, even if vitamin C may play a role in minimizing the harmful derivatives.
