what's the best equipment to have at home? why?
>>
>>34974930
Depends on your goals.
>>
>>34974930
In general, dumbbells are your best friend if you're just starting out and are being cheap.
>>
>>34974930
182.5kg barbell set minimum, squat stands, mats

Op here, I want to lose some fat and gain muscle
>>
anyone knows where to buy cheap equipment?
>>
>>34974930

you don't even need much equipment other than a pull up bar

you can get strong just as good with bodyweight exercises. and you have the added benefits of flexibility which cant happen with weights. its also safer and much cheaper and requires less calories. barbells are a waste of time and space

But to be fair, a little muscle mass is a lot in the eyes of a normie.

Any other idea.
>>
>>34974984
Losing fat is pretty easy... as in not complicated, you'll still have to put effort in to it.
1. Good diet.
2. Cardio..

As for building muscle, as I said earlier, you should have some goals.

Best way to save money on a home gym is to steal 5-10 pound plates from your local gyms. Just put it in your pocket and youre set. There's usually no cameras in the gym either.

20 10 pound plates later you are benching 245.

It's not going to be very stable once you squat actual weight.
Unless you modify the rack and know what you are doing down to the T.
Nothing is worth an serious injury.

there's absolutely zero need for anyone buying one of those gigantic things. even if you buy used you still spend hundreds more dollars than necessary.

just build your own. there's plenty guides online. i can post some images of mine and how to build it if anyone's interested. functions as a bench and squat rack and cost me about $100.

go to a steel merchant and buy some adequately thick box sections, about 4 metres of it. also buy about 2 metres of flat steel bars.

cut it into two long box sections about 2 metres each (this kills the man) and 4 flat bars, which will act as the pins. also get yourself some self tapping bolts to screw it all together, like in the pic. the box sections are secured to the wall and floor by two pieces of wood bolted to the floor, more pics to follow.

I want to start doing weighed carries at home.
I already do my arm work at home, which has helped a lot with my recovery.

this is how it's secured to the floor - just some screws and a little old block of wood. nothing fancy at all.

how it secured to the wall - blocks of wood screwed to the wall, and a bracket attached to each with a hole drilled through (and through the box sections) so that it can be set in place by a screw going through everything.

as you can see here, the "rack" isn't a rack at all, it's just two bits of unattached metal really. nothing fancy at all. most of the weight is taken by the floor. i have had almost 300kg loaded up on both sets of pins and never at any point did it show signs of weakness in any direction.

the real advantage to this is that it eliminates the need for lots of space in the home, which few people have to fill with a power cage or something. this can be compactly stacked against the wall - the box sections come off the wall easily enough (by removing the screw attaching it to the brackets on the wall) and stack neatly, taking up only inches.

if anyone decides to build one of these though, you should paint it with hammerite or something else that will stop it rusting, as i have done. also, you should definitely invest in some bumper plates and ;earn how to fail a squat - there are no safety pins here and getting trapped at the bottom of a squat is asking for injury, if you overbalance forward.

The first things I'd buy are:

1. Weights and two short bars. To save money, buy used. People sell them all the time for obvious reasons. Condition hardly matters as long the weights are all in one piece.
2. One of pic related. You can do pull ups/chin ups, also very helpful for pushups. Alternatively you can get some cheap steel bar from wherever and install it yourself if you can, I can't do that at my place.
3. Maybe a bench, you can easily build this yourself, but usually people sell these things all the time as well

Everything else I'd slowly build up, but you can get very far with just these things. Things to consider is a long bar (all though I almost always prefer the free versions of all exercises if possible), hyperextensions, more weights.

Don't buy any machines, it's usually a huge waste of money with little effect. You will probably regret it.

I dont currently even have space for something like this but it's defo something to think about in a couple years time possibly
>>
>>34975783
i don't have space either, that's why it's able to be taken down after all! i just shuffle some shit around until it has room to go up and then i train, then i take it down again.
>>
>>34974930
Items, listed in descending order of importance
1- Barbell + plates
2- Squat rack w/pullup bar
3- Bench
With only these 3 pieces of equipment, you can get in a quality, full body workout. After that, it's really up to you and which exercises you most enjoy.
>>
>>34975815
this, but i'd list dumbbells as essential too.

on top of that you have various smaller shit- close grip handle, gymnastic rings, ab wheel, resistance bands etc if you really want to get serious.
>>
>>34975846
I'd personally include dumbbells as number 4 on my list (or rather a pair of plate loaded dumbbell handles that fit the weights you already own, because it's much cheaper and you can go much heavier), but they are certainly not essential. As I said, everything after those 3 items depends on your personal goals/preferences and there are probably a dozen or so extra items I could list that I would want in my own home gym, but those 3 are all you need for a complete full body lift, and take precedence over everything else.
