Keep telling yourself that you're lifting for girls.

Keep telling yourself that you're gonna be like Zyzz.

Keep telling yourself that you're on a 5-day muscle split because it takes your chest a whole week to recover.

Keep defending the fact that you can't hit 1/2/3/4 in a year of training.

Keep telling yourself that you're weak because of your program, or your genetics.

>if you haven't hit 1/2/3/4 in your first year of training, then YOU'RE the problem.

If you start out asa fat cunt or naturally bigger guy you could hit this much quicker. If you start out as a fucking stick insect theres a very big chance you cant hit these numbers in one year naturally. It is ludicrous to just assume any skinny faggot can go from benching the bar to benching 100kg in a year just by working hard

brahs idk I hit 1 plate like 3 months in and 2 plate like 7 months later. Still under a year. I was a skinny cunt 6'4" lanklet and I only went to the gym 3 times a week. I think it has a lot to do with diet, if I had a shit diet I can see not being able to progress as fast.

he can do it in 6 months if he eats a lot and trains correctly. it's not a particularly difficult feat.

I did it in a year. Wasn't even that hard. Started at 150 lbs.

Since when going to the gym became a competition? Ffs if you don't progress as fast as others then you don't, you can still enjoy it. And if you keep doing that, you will hit those 1/2/3/4 sooner or later if you want. You learn something new (almost) every day.

For most pple the feeling after the workout and the other positive effects on the body are more important than numbers. This coming from a guy who hit 5x115kg bench after 2,5 years, so its not like im defending myself.

I hit it in 7 months, starting at 64kg skelly. Im now 84 kg. But i did have prior experience with lifting and nutrition, and i played sports as young.
But most people never even hit 1/2/3/4. It's probably like 1% of the people in my gym that can do that, no matter how long they've been working out

I agree to a point. That is an incredibly mediocre, achievable goal for a year's time. My numbers were higher than that when I started, except on deadlift. I grew up poor, but kept at high volume calisthenics until I had access to weights.

>if you haven't hit 1/2/3/4 in your first year of training, then YOU'RE the problem.

This is just patently dumb. What if you're dedicated, following a good strength program and eating and recovering well? You still might not get anywhere near that depending on your starting point.

My buddy just started coming to the gym with me today and has never exercised a day in his life. He is just skin and bone and fat. There is not a solid inch of mass on his entire frame.

He couldn't squat or OHP the empty bar, and even trying to tell him basic cues like "tighten up" or "squeeze the bar" was difficult because he had no muscles to squeeze. The very notion of tensing a particular part of his body was impossible for him.

But he absolutely refused to give up. We had him doing squats with one of those small curl bars and he did way more than the 5x5 he was supposed to do because he was determined to get it right and by the time we left he was squatting and OHP'ing with decent form and is already asking what we're going to do next time.

It's going to be a long fucking road for him, but it was for me too. It all depends on where you're starting from.

So don't let dipshits like the OP discourage you, friends. Just keep training and keep putting the hours in. It might take months or it might take years but all you need to focus on is the next day in the gym and making that lift.

that's a good point. the vast majority of people in the gym simply train wrong and inconsistently. so on the one hand 1/2/3/4 something that most people can't do, but on the other hand it's a mediocre achievement compared to what can be done if you follow a good diet and routine.

Almost everytime i hear this argument from gymgoers, but for some reason they don't have any other achievements to talk about. GTG (grease the groove). Mastering movements is mostly neurological. Do pushups in small sets, say 10 reps, but do a high volume. 1,000-2,000 a day. Then once a week, have a day to lessen volume, but do each set to failure, with a goal of increasing reps as time goes by.

Now I'm benching 85kg, I tried 90kg(smallest plates we have are 2.5kg) and could only do it 1rm.
I never played any sport, and overall didn't care about nutrition. I didn't get on any form of supplements either, just ate fewer bad stuff and a bit more good stuff.
My OHP is laughable at 20kg though, I started doing it a bit late just a month ago.

These threads are so gay. Who even knows their 1 RM? Like I'm never lifting that. I don't care. All that matters is what you can do in a set and you aren't knocking out 25 reps at 405 deadlifting in one year. Wouldn't pretty much everyone in the gym be doing that if it mattered? Out of the 60? Regulars that push hard at my gym and look good, there's maybe 2? guys who lift like that and they are huge freaks of fucking nature who have been lifting for a long time and clearly roid.

It was sad because they had this "muh iron lyfe" mentality and were not only weak, but unaesthetic too. They were running a split where they would just do whatever sounded good that day without any real progression.
It sucks cuz i want them to succeed and to help them, but theyve been lifting longer than me so they would just feel offended.
