Hey /fit/, gym newbie here. I started working out about a month ago and things are going okay, except my friend that went with me has to stop going for work reasons. I now no longer have a spotter. I'm too much of a pussy to do bench press without a spotter, is it safe?

after one month you will definetly be not lifting ultra heavy that you need spotter for, or just do benchpres with dumbels those are even better for beginner

I prefer barbell, its easier for me to handle. And yeah I'm not a heavy lifter

I've never had a spotter, ever. just be careful. don't put clamps on that way you can dump the weights off on one side and then the other if you ever need to. I've only had to do it once in about 10 months.

This. I do db press whenever I don't feel like setting up a bench. It's also more comfortable for me and I like the idea of practicing control as well
