Is there a reason to do sumo deadlifts over normal deadlifts?

Is there a reason to do sumo deadlifts over normal deadlifts? Perhaps a certain body type would be more inclined to lift one way vs the other?

I do sumo when I feel like my hip joints are rusty on the day. My bed's mattress is pretty old so it gives me some hip mobility issues sometimes.

Long legs and short arms / torso combination are the best candidates for pulling sumo. I'm 6'1 with ridiculously long femurs and it works wayyyy better than conventional.

It's not for a certain body type it's to focus on your hips more. If you're having trouble locking out or moving your squat with your hips, sumo deads will help develop dem hips fam.

I have long torso/short limbs and I can pull 40-50lbs more sumo than conventional.

Also sumo doesn't make me feel like I need to go to the hospital afterwards.

This guy is correct if you have long femurs you should pull conventional. Reason is your torso is the main lever arm and if you have long femurs you have short torso.
