I'm new to lifting (about 3 mos) and am seeing some nice gains so far. The only thing bothering me is that one of my traps seems to be bigger than the other. It's not a big deal while resting but when I flex it it's gonna start to look pretty weird soon. I only do the 5 basic compound lifts. How do I fix it?
>>
The more you lift the more your body will eventually even out. If you try out-working out one side, you'll fuck yourself up even more.
>>
just ignore it and when you shrug/deadlift make sure to engage both traps equally dont worry about the imbalance it will clear eventually. dont work one side with dumbbells cuz i did this with my side delt and it made my trap bigger the the other...just keep hittin the compound movements and focus/engage the weaker side kay?

is it even possible to not engage the weaker side? Like OHP for example, both sides of your body are doing the same amount of work, no matter which end of the bar goes up first, right?

Your stronger side makes up for your weaker by doing more work. Dumbbells are better for beginers
>>

yea but i'm asking if your doing barbell ohp. One side of your body wouldn't be lifting more weight if the bar ends up above your head on both sides
>>
Dont worry, nobody except you will ever notice the difference and as mentioned it will even out.

If you would measure the volume of your legs/arms left vs right there is a difference between your dominant side.

I had this issue of one side being enormously different to the other because of this exercise. It was really weird and I couldn't get it to fix. Other people were starting to notice the uneven traps when I had my shirt off and were asking if I had injured myself or something. As soon as I quit this exercise they went back to normal
>>
I had this same issue and i pretty sure you jave posture problems dog.
Take a pic of your back and if it looks like the side that is opposite to the side with the larger trap, you probabpy have upward rotation in one shoulder blade and some kind of scoliosis.
Or just visit a specialist.

dumbbell shrugs.
make each side work as hard as the other.

if both sides are worked the same, they will develop the same.

My left trap was massive in comparison with to my right after about 6 months of lifting, it's been slowing evening out since then. Don't do any individual trap isolation that shit is dumb.

why is he squatting down while he does this?
>>

Not OP but I have a very slight scoliosis and I have the same issue as OP. Have had the scoliosis since I was a kid, It just became a habit to drop one shoulder to counter the difference.

Looks like he is sitting on a bench or something, look close to his feet.

this

I used to think I had uneven traps, but the reality was my left arm in a neutral position sat a little hunched forward whereas the right was fine
