How long will it take me to reach ottermode (im 6'4) ?
Plan on going to the gym 6 times a week and doing GOMAD aswell
>https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/37ylk5/a_linear_progression_based_ppl_program_for/

I also seen a website on here a while back that showed before and after pictures of heaps of body types. You enter your height and weight and it comes up with heaps of pictures.

Also progress/routine thread
Pic related, i was going to post the other night.

>>
>>37549816
Wow kid you are skelleton king
Sincerely, i would reccomend you a 3 day routine before doing a PPL. Your body is not used to volume, so it doesn't make any sense going from 0 to 6 days of gym from night to day.

Really, go up little by little. Start with a 3Day program like Greyskull or SS
And read this whole website:
http://fitsticky.com/novice-programs/
If i had known this shit i would have saved myself months of meaningless training.

As to PPL routines, don't get me wrong, they are probably the best for hypertrophy, but not for a total newbie like you. For you i would hit routine with less volume (link) and when you have done for 4 or 5 months lean bulking and you get used to all your lifts, then you can switch to PPL and do good (yet in my opinion i would stick to 3 or 4 day lifting, but that is me senpai)

tldr: fucking read the wall text nigger, you will thank me in some months

And if you don't trust me, at least do SS for 1 month to repeat the main lifts and get used to them, then do PPL or whathever you want.

Well after I stopped powerlifting, I went into a depression and stopped eating, then I met a girl and dated her for like 4 months and during that time I went vegetarian and lost a bit of weight, and now we've been broken up for like the past 2 weeks and i'm only just getting back into the gym now but the gains are coming back super fast. During that time when I was with the girl I was lifting inconsistently and not as often so Idk its really hard to say how long it took me to get from pic a to pic b, but going vegetarian definitely got me really shredded. here's a pic from when I wasn't eating meat and still had gainz before i lost them all.

>>
>>37549816
I'm sorry that your post got derailed so hard by some phaggots.
Just follow >>37549901 for a while.

But the most important thing to grow muscle is
1) eating enough protein (1g/lb of lean bodyweight is more than enough, but try aiming for it to find your own sweetspot)
2) eating on a slight caloric surplus (maybe GOMAD is a bit too much to be honest)
3) lifting every time more, aka Progressive Overload

If you do all those 3 things, the only thing left to do is wait, enjoy your journey man
>>
>>37550086
Yea nice thats some decent weight gain. did you do GOMAD aswell?
>>
>>37550095
I do hope youre rusing him
>>
>>37550129
>>37549816

What i meant by that is that if you get all 3 things, the routine you follow is not that important. Just do the one you enjoy the most, because it will be the one that you will follow for the longest time.

A bad routine is only a routine that does not let you do 3) while doing 1) and 2) + sleeping enough (8-9 hours for an adult male)
>>
>>37550135

71 KB, 770x378
He's kinda half right. You don't need to train core to have abs. It helps to make them thicker, but if your bodyfat is low enough then they will be visible anyway even when not flexing. But no one has defined abs when unflexed. I haven't trained my core in a year or more maybe.

I just took 2 pics now to show the difference between flexed and unflexed, I'm about 6% bodyfat. I don't really care if it triggers people.
>>
>>37550153
>>37550161

That is nice.

But just make sure that you eat enough protein (see >>37550129 ) that is the most important thing, without protein you will just not put on muscle.

As in what you linked and GOMAD: if you gain too much fat really fast (i would say that gaining more than 0,5kg a week means you are gaining pointless fat) then slow down the pace bro.

I get that you want to gain weight fast, really, i've been there. But getting too fat will just make you look even worse, believe me.

Bodyweightfag checkin in. Heres my progress from summer 2014 to nowish.

(i'm >>37549901
>>37550129

Good call, when you find yourself comfortable with the form on the main lifts (bench press, overhead press, deadlift and squat) and your progress (the amount of weight you put on the bar) starts to slow down, then you can put on more exercises to SS like chin-ups, curls and general arm workout

If you are going to follow SS: do it smart: read:
http://fitsticky.com/starting-strength
ALL of it, and don't add anything until what i told you happens

But that's just my opinion bro

I do bodyweight but these are my maxes
Bench 205(pounds obviously)
Squat atg 245×3
Didlylift 245×3
Ohp 135×2
When i get in a gym gonna max my ohp and squat cause im pretty sure they shouldve gone up
>>
>>37550482
Not bad for doing bodyweight exercises. How long you you've been doing this?
>>
>>37550508
Its hard to say at this point. Ive been doing sports since 11 but not sure when i started regularly lifting.
Also i do go to the gym quiet a bit(usually around 1-3 times a month) so its not like bodyweight exercies magically carry over to weights.
>>
im just here for the shirtless photos desu keep em coming boys
>>
>>37550579
Sorry but this thread is for ridiculing people's poses/angles, not actual progress.
>>
>>37550549
Well if you go to a gym 1-3 times a month then yeah, they pretty much magically carry over. I am lifting for like 3 years, but I had 2 surgeries (pectus excavatum) and for a year I was just going to the gym irregulary because i was completely burned out of it. Also in those years I gained 30kg of nice mass (I used to be a spoopy skeletal), but now in the last 6 months I've been going to the gym 3-6 times a week and feel pretty good. The reason why I posted this blog is because i'm trying to "justify" my average lifts.
Squat 200kg (This isn't my full potential and I could go for 210 or even more, but I'm having a hard time getting over the fear of killing myself and my spotters. It's a shitty psichology.)
Bench 100kg
Deadlift 220kg
>>
>>37550615
You realize i was using pounds right? Your lifts are way higher than mine.
>>
You wouldnt last that many days at the gym in a row, train as hard as you can and get a fair amount of protein in on monday, train tuesday to whatever extent you can, leave wednesday for rest and staying hyrdrated, a little bit on thursday but keeping it nice and easy, try go for conditioning on this day with small weights or whatever you do, rest once again and repeat on saturday, rest sunday and go hard on monday
>>
>>37550654
Well since it's summer and I can't go on weekends anymore so I just go 4 or 5 times a week.
On monday I hit the legs, biceps
Tuesday- tits and shoulders
Wednesday is back
Thursday is triceps, biceps
Friday- legs and chest

I rest my legs during chest, and back during tricep day, so everything is fine.
>>
>>37550632
Yeah, I do realise that, I'm just saying that whoever goes to gym like I do is always stronger than me which kinda sucks.
>>
>>37550770
Really? What gym do you go to?
I go to a a YMCA and can outlift a lot of people. Most ive seen anyone squat was 185 with quarter ROM.
Maybe go to commercial gym. You save money+ego boost.
>>
>>37550789
Well I go to a basement type gym, it's a powerlifting one, so there are some serious monsters. Honestly, I wouldn't trade that filthy basement into those top tier gyms, you know. In that shithole eveyone is a friend, if you're going for your max, everyone is watching and shouting so you could make it, there is this veteran who is over 40 years old and looks fucking amazing and is strong as fuck. He also shares some good advice. It's a great place, it's only regulars, so we're like a family there. So fuck those commercial gyms, there goes mostly twinks who want to stare at chicks asses all day long and take selfies and that ruins the whole atmosphere.
>>
>>37550751
You hit biceps twice and triceps once? Why?! And chest on the same day as legs? You're not hitting legs enough if you got energy to do chest on that day as well and if you do your lifts will probs suffer.
>>
>>37550879
No. Friday is an easy day, I just do a little bit of legs and then chest. As for triceps, I'm aware that it's bad but I hate tricep workout, but I do put in some weighed dips here and there, but full tricep workout is once a week.

Im 3 months in, was about 190lbs when I started, had no muscle mass, was benching and squatting bar only for first few sessions I was that weak.

I'm at 174lbs now, so down almost 20, benching 60kg for 4x5 and squatting 90 for same reps/sets.

I know it's not much compared to a lot of you guys, but this is the first time in my life I've been in any sort of decent shape, always been quite soft and pudgy, there's a long way to go but I'm pretty happy with my progress, just gonna keep doing my lifts and eating as best as I can.

>pic related - I have a really noticeable tattoo on my arm so I've blurred it out.

5'11" 138 lbs. I do a lot of cardio.
Bench is 190 for 3 reps
Squat is 245 for 1 rep
And I don't deadlift because I have herniated discs and a fuck ton of back problems.

Are you guys usually stockier compared to swimmers or is it coincidental?
>>
>>37555320
we're usually stockier, especially when compared to long distance, but similar build to sprinters, even though some players are fatter.
>>
>>37555214
Damn, you're a damn skelly. But not a bad bench for a skeletor though. You better eat as much as you can and you'll be fine. I used to be skinnier than you (55kg) and in 3 years i gained 30kg. >>37554471
This is me.

Anyway, sorry if I came out harsh, but still, progress is a progress so you should be proud of yourself. Remember, every small step forward - counts.

Stop this fucking snapchat faggotry.
Wtf is this, why fit is filled with faggots that posts a pic after a workout and says 'no pain no gain' 'armz day *cringyemoji*' this is the most retarded shit you can do while lifting.
Nice v taper tho.
>>
>>37550032
the angle you took that photo at can be very misleading, people here are just asking for a normal front picture, but apparently you are insecure about somethign in your physique, even though you look quite good, and dont wanna post it

m8 those are really good lifts.
I get it that you're used to seeing monsters, and I'm glad you found a nice place to lift, but dont lose an absolute judgement of yourself.
keep it up!

damn op how much do you weigh?
>>
>>37555734
Thanks for the nice word, you're right. If i compare myself to others that go to the gym just to run on a treadmill then yeah, I'm a strong bastard, but still, deep down in my heart, I'm still a weak spooky skellington that barely can lift. I do wish I could just get rid of that fucked up feeling.

I guess it really depends on goals as well.
Me personally, I dont want to go bodybuilder mode, I dont think that "wide" look complements my frame well, I'm going more for a swimmer/lean physique.
But I do wanna get stronger, and it's hard, 3x5 progression taking a while
>>
>>37550196
Yup, im jelly. Good work bro, keep it up.
>>
>>37555974
It is hard, just keep at it and don't give up. You will get to a point where you stall and you will feel like shit because of it. The trick is simple, just keep pushing yourself and you will break the barrier, then you'll start gaining more strenght untill you reach another brick wall which you need to punch through.

I would also recommend creatine for you if you reach the said wall and you're stalling. It'll help you to break through and increase your lifts.
>>
>>37555281

No I'm doing a military-focused routine, I don't really have set numbers nutrition wise but I get about 90-100g of protein a day.

My lifting is mostly heavy compound lifts for 4x5 with some specific exercises at 3x10, I run twice a week and do a lot of hiking

>>37555161
Thanks man appreciate it
>>
This is why we need to get rid of all the tripfags.
>>
>>37550086
Wait what? Somebody who has never lifted in his life can squat 160 lbs and deadlift 235lb?

How many lbs of plates do i have to buy to start lifting? I was thinking of buying 170 lbs of plates total.

Do i need more? I look like OP does.
>>
>>37556203

Not necessarily, he may have been physically strong before he started lifting, you don't know what background he might have.

170lbs isn't a bad idea, you probably won't be squatting the equivalent of 75kg straight away, what's important is that you get the right form and a good starting routine so you are introduced to the exercise properly, otherwise you'll hurt yourself, or be lifting at a lower weight than you could be due to bad form.

I was squatting the bar for 3x10 when I started, I made sure I had good form and gradually put weight on week by week, by week 12 I was on 80kg for 4x5.
>>
>>37556107
I guess staying 3 workouts on a weight is par for the course for me, since I'm weak by nature (lanklet skinnyfat).
When I'll hit the real brick walls, not for a while I hope, I will try volume, read it's a good way
dont know about the creatine, the "no gym goer"/normie inside me thinks of it as a drug, you know, I'm afraid of what people and my parents would think.
do you need a prescription?
I think I wont need it for a while since I am a 4month noob

Slowly escaping trap mode, keep it up. Keep hitting those lats. I was also blessed with wide hips, and once I filled in my lats and shoulders it really helped. We may not ever have a perfect taper but you can still be a big guy [for you].

Not that poster, but try the leddit routine on /r/bodyweightfitness. It got me decent results, and it's balanced for horizontal and vertical push/pull.
>>
>>37556736
Eh you know man, I'm pretty sure I can achieve a decent v taper because most of my lat gains came very recently because I didn't learn how to pull with the back and not with arms until 3 months ago and just last week I learned how to REALLY hit my lats with the pulldown machine and now I have lat doms for the first time (and it 's been 4 days since my back day already)

Anyways, I'm extremely excited for the huge fucking lat gainz I'm about to make.

2014 to about a week ago.

Am I gonna make it?
>>
>>37556942
You definitely can. But you also definitely have some hourglass hips and have to know it won't be a perfect bodybuilder/physique competitor type taper. Either way keep it up.
>>
>>37556942
I'm 4months in with SL (3x5 though) and I feel like I'm not hitting my lats and back with rows, I just struggle to much, and I keep fucking deloading
>>
>>37556977
One thing about pictures of my own body always baffled me. It always looks like my hips are large because the bone itself is wide. But in reality my love handles are fucking huge (I can barely grab them with my full hand) And when i really press my hand to the bone, it looks considerably more narrow, so I reckon it'll be at least 2-3 inches smaller after a cut. I'm thinking about trying yohimbine because I heard it'll make fat loss even through the body.
>>
>>37556430
No it's not. You don't need any prescriptions for creatine, it'll increase your strenght for a short period of time which will help you to punch through the brick wall. As you said, it's not worth it for you now, since you're lifting for 4 months, your strenght gains will still grow as long as you put on the weight, other than that, you need to eat well and take vitamints with minerals.
>>
>>37556994
I started with a strength program but I dropped it in favor of a bodybuilding program. I know /fit/ generally advocates strength programs but I've learned that being stronger is an ego thing and what I really wanted was a better body so I did what my "fake natty" trainer at my gym told me to do because I trust him and I did my research to make sure his way of training is good for me. Oh and the guy won the second place at EU-wide physique competition so I guess he knows what he's talking about

>>
>>37556203
I was active all of my life and lived in a rural environment, picking up heavy things and using your legs is a lot more common and usually done a lot less efficiently than things that are pushed, hence my weak as fuck bench. Although to be fair I started really light on bench to focus on form and if I wanted to I could have put up at least 115 or so for 3x5. I ate like shit, slept like shit, and adapted to the manual labor I had to do through brute force. It's why construction workers aren't always that big or jacked.

>>37559564
Yeah, sometimes being nice and positive really help, but it varies since some people are toxic in reality. I wasn't really being toxic, I just called him out on being smug about his average deadlift. That is all.
