mostly I think about people who got cancer or injured and enjoyed being fit prior to that. They would love to have the opportunity to work out again but circumstances prevent them. Nothing is preventing me so off to the squat rack I go.

Does lifting really contributes absolutely NOTHING in a fight?
Lifting increases muscle strength
You use muscles to move
You move when you hit someone in a fight
So you use muscles when you fight
Stronger muscles = you hit harder
Therefore yes lifting theoretically makes you better at fighting, imagine fighting with a skinnyfat dude vs fighting klokov or Arnie
lifting does contribute to fighting ability, but only if you know how to fight. If you can't throw a proper punch you're just trying to polish a turd by lifting weights.
Also adding mass to your body does ideally make you harder to hurt.
However more muscles require more energy=smaller gas tank unless you do a lot of cardio.
Also lifting can increase tone (resting muscle tension) making you slow, unless you do relaxation work.
If there was a fight between someone who only lifts vs someone who only trains boxing, I would bet on the boxer.
