Why is it that hipsters/"artists" are never fit and typically have shit-tier bodies?
My school is in the same city as a lot of really liberal artsy schools and I see these fuckers standing on the street smoking cigarettes in their ridiculous clothes all the time and none of them are ever in shape. I didn't notice this until I started taking lifting seriously about a year ago.
Is anyone here /art/hip/ and /fit/?
Because they want to appear smart, and having muscles has the opposite stereotype

Because there's literally no point in going to the gym for most of them. Exercising is objectively good for you, but /fit/ needs to realize that weightlifting is just a hobby, and one that's looked down as trashy and low class by many people, which isn't the aesthetic they're going for.
Do you guys eat meat
why/why not?
Let's get some discusion going, we can all learn from it.
I guess i can start
I personally don't eat meat or eggs for environmental and ethical reasons. I take a vitamin B pill with 7 different B-vitamins to compensate for the vitamins i would have gotten from the meat.I feel a lot better with almost no saturated fats in my system :)
Went vegetarian a few months ago, and i reccomend it greatly

At what age would you say its to late to ''make it''. I'm 26 and starting college next semester. Do I have a chance?
>>34469254
Define "making it" or at least your definition of it anyway.
Nothing wrong with starting college at that age though. If nothing else you will have a different set or experience and knowledge than most your classmates unless you're taking night or online classes.
I felt I had a leg up on most others as a returning college student. Not because of the course work I'd done before. I just felt more on top of shit with knowing how to focus better and network unlike the first time I did college.
It's never too late brah.Learn a ton, train hard and someday you'll build something beautiful.

What is /fit/ opinion on Lyle McDonald's "The Rapid Fat Loss Handbook, A Scientific Approach to Crash Dieting" diet for quick fat loss?
Summary:
-Its a protein sparing modified fast (PSMF) diet. This mean something like "ketogenic starvation diet".
-You calculate your LBM and BF%. With this data you are classified in one of 3 categories.
-Your caloric intake is given by LBM multiplied by the protein/pound established in your category (something between 0.8 for obese and sedentary people to 2 for lean and highly active people). This means a HUGE caloric deficit, between 800-1500 kcal.
-You can only eat lean protein non-starchy vegetables. Some carbs and fat are tolerated but only if the consumption don't mean a big portion of the total caloric intake.
-You have to take fish oil (or pills) for the omega-3.
-You also need to take some multivitamin.
-EC stack it's highly recommended.
-Depending on your category, you have some weekly free meals (0 to 2).
-Depending on your category you have some carbs refills.
-Depending on your category, the time you have to do the diet to hit your objective you, may very: lean people, 11-12 days; slightly overweight people, 2-6 weeks; overweight people 6-12 weeks.
-You can lose 10-20 pounds in 2 weeks, wich a high % will be water weight.
If you want to read the booklet here its the pdf version:

For those who dont know, Lyle McDonald its the guy who runs www.bodyrecomposition com, wich is recomended in the sticky.
I am like 25%bf and I think that this can help me to drop some fat in a short time frame. I rather suffer 1 month and have some good results that suffer a little bit less for 6 months with another diet.
Thoughts?
>>34425053
I haven't read the book, but I have personally done a low carb diet before and I got good results. PSMF diets are generally recommended on the board as the fastest way to cut. Make sure you drink enough water if you're doing a ketogenic diet.
>>34425092
This. I love carb based foods, but when cutting, low carbs is what works best for me. Just plain chicken or beef with vegetables, can eat up to 400g of each per meal and it fills me up way more than its equivalent in rice, pasta or beans.
Also protein is always good.
>>34425092
>>34425114
The amount of weight that you can lose its true? I mean in that time frame.
Also, how much LBM can you lose doing this kind of diet?
Why do people hate squatting?
It's hard
It trains legs, which most people don't care about
They use bad form and hurt their backs.
>>34415120
It's the one exercise that makes leg day fun.
Don't get me wrong leg curls and extentions, weighted calf raises etc are fine but squats are GOAT
I think a lot of people are self-conscious and afraid to start them with weak ass weak and build up too.

In other news, the international drug distributor known as "The Yellow Robot" was arrested in his mansion in the Austrian Alps.
Investigative teems had been alerted by a three kilometer area around the clandestine laboratory where the snow had turned yellow.
"The Yellow Robot" was described as being "of strong build, with muscles plainly visible below his skin due to an absence of fat."
One officer commented that he looked like a massive piece of jerky that had been painted...

"Creep" is the most sexually oppressive word of our generation.
Men who aren't outwardly attractive cannot be slightly flirtatious because they are labelled creeps.
Whereas a hot guy can border on sex crimes and just be "playful and nice"
yes that is creepy, but idk is it "rape" if you use trickery?

I would like to take up boxing.
However, I am too autistic to risk humiliating myself.
What are some good lifting goals that will mean I wont embarrass myself it I try boxing?
What bench, squat, 5K speed etc am I looking for?
if you are legit autistic (and judging by this thread it sounds like you are) you are going to embarrass yourself regardless because you will have poor motor skills and will want to quit the first time someone hits you back.
boxing is much more about technique and toughness than it is about strength.
>>32260078
You don't need any of those to box
In fact the stiffness and being swolle as fuck would make it more embarassing to be a beginner because people who box often make fun of swole as fuck guys who can't punch for shit.
Can I lift weights and box at the same time?
