Hi /fit/, I have a few questions. First, looking at sculptures of ancient greeks, how did they get so ripped? I mean, they didnt have squat racks, barbells, or benches. Was it all bodyweight? If bodyweight can be that effective, it seems like a good alternative if I can't get to a gym.
Now, I have some questions about bodyweight fitness, as I really won't be able to get to a gym for a long while(travelling). If I keep eating like I am bulking, will bodyweight give me gains? Should I run to get extra fitness while doing bodyweight? Will running make my ass flabby?...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

That guy has very little musculature (you can get that in 6 months lifting, easy).
He looks good because he is like 9% body fat
This is a good goal as you can't expect huge muscularity from calisthenics
>>37730657
I know I wont get huge from calisthenics. I am just looking to be stronger than most, and better looking. The thing I am most concerned about is running. I plan to join the military and go for a bretty active mos, so I think I should run at least 4-6 miles a day, but I don't know if running like that is good for me. I know that marathons are bad and make people skellies, but if I eat enough and do calisthenics, will 4-6 miles a day be healthy cardio/leg workout instead of skelly creator?

This guy gets it OP. After about 6 months - 1 year of bodyweight for your upper body and maintenance of any lower body gains on SS you should have something similar to David's body type after a cut.
>mfw triedo to make a 1000 calorie shake with oats, peanut butter, raisins, banana, chocolate, and milk for the first time
I don't think it's for me
stay skeltal
I also gag drinking too much thick stuff. Stick to eating

What is the best PPL routine floating around the Internet?
Is the leddit routine, with some modifications, just a meme?
https://m.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/37ylk5/a_linear_progression_based_ppl_program_for/
Is Coolcicadas the shit?

What does /fit/ think?
>>37730453
>[the reddit routine is] an accessible program for beginners
>Coolcicada's P/P/L is a intermediate routine
>>37730453
Coolciwhoever's has way too much shit in it.
The reddit one is decent as far as a PPL goes, if you chuck in some ab work. But if you're lifting 6 days a week it's best if you've lifted for more than a few months else your body will find it rough.
It will also be easier if you're bulking and making sure to sleep lots. Doing all that on a cut will wear you out.
>>37730482
I realize that; I was being retarded and realized they were each meant for a different level so it's not exactly a fair comparison. I'm curious about what the consensus on these routines is. Is Reddit one actually good? I, personally, would make some modifications to it such as the retarded 5x15-20 face pulls and taking out the lateral raise superset. I also think weighted dips should be in there.
Would a 24 hour swimming pool be viable? One of my main gripes is wanting to learn how to swim but having a fucked up schedule where most of my free time happens to be butt fuck a clock at night.
If there was one would people go to it?
If it was ope 24/7, when would it get cleaned?
>>37730319
>>37730974
two swimming pools
>>37730997
Just have two or three and cycle them out, after however long it's usually proper to clean a pool.
Last two digits for reps, third for sets of you're man enough.
>inb4 bicycle kicks look gay
Does /fit/ want to get shredded or not?
why do people do these
or the push up shit
or the squat shit
don't you work out? This random shit only slows your progression if you have a good program you're following
Fuck it, I like bikes.

Is there a novice barbell only routine? (no rack/bench). I'm looking for specifics.
>>37730237

>>37730237
I want to lick her sweaty body after her workout
>>37730237
Not really that I know of.
But there's no reason you wouldn't be able to get big and strong using only a barbell and some weight, no racks required.
Obviously backsquatting is out of the question which is too bad because the back squat is basically the #1 excercise for overall muscle building and strength.
But the front squat is still a great tool. Unfortunately you're going to have to clean the bar first to be able to do it.
But you should probably be able to do cleans at whatever weight you can front squat for sets of 10 or something.
The most important thing you're going to have to learn in only having a barbell is without a doubt going to be the POWER CLEAN. I put it in caps so you can go look it up and figure out how to do it, or maybe even have a bigger guy than you show you how.
Every excercise you do is going to have to start from the floor because you don't have a rack, so you're going to have to learn the clean to get the barbell in the rack position (standing upright and holding it at your shoulders).
I'm gonna write out a whole scheme for you and it's going to be dependant on you learning these excercises; Power clean, front squat, overhead press, deadlift, stiff leg deadlift, pendlay row.
Training 3xs a week full body is GOAT and probably your only real option here anyways witht the stuff you have available to you.
Monday
Front squat 3x8-10
Overhead press 5x5
Power clean 5x2
Deadlift 1x5
Wednesday
Front squat 2x5 (recovery, use lighter weight)
Behind the neck press 3x8-10 (use lighter weight than overhead press)
Pendlay row 3x5
Power clean 3x2 (you can use lighter weight if you want)
Friday
Front squat 3x8-10
Overhead press 3x5 (try to go heavier than Monday while maintaining good form)
Power clean 5x2 (at least same weight as monday, or increase if you're comfortable)
Pendlay rows 3x8-10
or Pullups 3 sets of as many as possible

How do I get a high-test girl, who now weighs more than me since I'm on a cut, to fall in love with me? We fuck but she won't date for some reason.

It took me 9 months of fucking around just to dick her.
Are rest days a meme? I feel like shit after sitting all day and doing no exercise. I feel great after even a light workout.
No one said you had to be sedentary on rest days... walk or something you fat fuck
>>37730018
That's why I have a home gym, I can do some exercises I don't normally incorporate in my normal workouts like curls n shit
>>37730018
Yeah but I had a lot of pain in my back and shoulders and I took a two-day straight break from the gym last week and I healed completely. Then again, I worked out one morning at 6am then went and did a 12-hour work shift and felt like complete shit all day at work.
Just do what makes you feel good as long as you can stay in the game.
how do i avoid lower back pain when working out?
i feel like it happens every time i workout...

Is the keto diet a meme? I'm looking into it. What is /fit/'s opinion on the keto diet?
>>37729612
All "diets" are dumb. Just don't eat like a fat 7 year old. Stop trying to overcomplicate everything.
>>37729612
Yes it is a massive meme. Carbs are the primary energy source of primates. Just eat less you fat fuck.
>>37729633
I'm 5'11" 168 pounds, you dipshit. Want to explain why you think the keto diet doesn't work?
I lift 6 days a week and do sprints at the track 2 times a week. I was curious if the keto diet would work for me. I get that carbs are the main energy source; however, body adapts to using fats as the energy source, I believe.
