So I am approaching weight where the reps are much harder now due to my low rest time. However, I do not want to wait longer than 2.5mins max for breaks in between sets. I like having intense work outs that are short and sweet.
So my question is... has anyone here run programs where there is only a top set only? What gains did you see from programs that have a ramping set only? Billstars' program comes to mind.
Although Im going to be going for top sets of 10.
Thanks.
Also, can someone spam this thread with pics of girls spreading their legs...

I hit the same point a couple weeks ago while doing SS where I had to rest 10 minutes between squat sets. Since my upper body lifts were stalling I decided to switch to 5/3/1. At the moment for me this means more volume than I was doing under SS but shorter rest periods because aside from the last set of any given workout the weight hasn't gotten back up to the amount of weight I was lifting for 3x5.
In other words you need to build work capacity and adding a bit of volume will do that for you so long as you're doing said volume in the 70-90% of your 1RM (ie:...

Unless you are 95% or more of your 1rpm why in the world would you rest more than 2 minutes?
>>35183510
doing sets of 5 with 85% of your 1RM will exhaust you
>>35183499
im doing sets of 10 right now, i get what youre sayign though

Holy shit enjoy withdrawal if you ever quit, I was an alcoholic for years and it was hell
>6 liters of peer a day
how have you not killed yourself already by realizing how badly you treat your body?
I know of someone that smokes and drinks but still gains but don't expect to be "healthy"
ITT: /fit/ memes that have no basis IRL:
>Manlets - Most people irl don't give a shit about your height unless you're a dwarf or super-lank
>High Test - Most real "high-test" girls are actually chubs with cellulite everywhere, they only look good in photos because lighting and toning
>GOMAD - Try actually doing this and you'll be a smelly farting monster, not recommended

What if the trainer says

>>35182577
Do SS anyways, it's the GOAT beginner routine
dont fall for the "SS is a meme" meme
>>35182591
so i don't HAVE to do, say the trainer tells me to do solely machines?
i can upright tell him
>i want to do SS
>>35182605
you dont need a trainer tbqh lad
also machine shit is just straight retarded and great for making zero gains
do yourself a favor and actually read the Starting Strength book and do the routine, do the program as he says to, and youll be ok
Ok so ive just learned that our heart muscle tend to use mainly fat for fuel, like 80 or 90%. Does this mean that there is more to cardio and fatloss than we think?
If i jump very rapidly for like 20 times in a row, my heart is fucking racing afterwards. What if i do this every 5 or 10 minutes throughout the day? My heart will use ALOT more energy (fat) than usual. My body will basicly contantly be in a state of fat burning. Is this a viable idea?
>>35182448
>exercising burns fat
holy shit this is like a revolution of healthcare
>>35182486
I dont think you understand the point im making. We all knew that exercising burns calories and thus burns fat. But the thing is, the heart muscle tend to use allmost purely fat for fuel. So what im saying is, what if we focus more on trying to get the heart working, instead of purely looking at exercising/calories.
If we were to get our heartrate up for a considerable percentage of the day, we would be in more of a state of burning fat, without hurting any of the other calories. Our bodies would still have...

HIIT
How is winter affecting your cardio habits, fit?
Cold air feels like it's freezing/burning my lungs when I run, especially HIIT. What are the best ways to avoid this?
Also it seems the board always talk about LISS or HIIT, but about running with moderate intensity, somewhat like HIIT but with longer distance at 50%, wouldn't it be a good balance between both training aspects?
I'm also interested to hear what kind of warmups/cooldowns stretching you guys do.

Daily training schedule :
>100 push-ups

>100 squats

How good is this? How fit can someone hope to become with a daily schedule like this?

why dont you try it and find out

Right. I had forgotten this, thanks.

Well I actually am, I'm two days in, but I'm no expert, so I was wondering what you faggots over /fit/ thought about this.
I plan on resting on Sunday though.

You'll just look fat shirtless. Not like thats a bad thing, it's my goal body too
Physically what is the actual difference a person at 18 vs early 20's assuming they at both ages are totally healthy ?
They're not faggots like OP.
>>35181799
Testosterone levels, bone development, healing and adaptation capabilities.
Then again, the difference is so negligible it's retarded to take it into account if you are not somehow diseased.
>>35181799
Changes too much person to person to generalize
But an 18 year old won't be fully developed in many aspects compared to the older
If hypertrophy means
8-12 reps should this rep range only be for accesory or all lifts
Like rows and the press?
>>35181745
That's how I do it, although I don't consider the press to be an accessory lift, it's one of my main powerlifts, so I do a 3x5
My accessory shoulder stuff is lateral raises and rear delt flies.
>>35181826
I dont consider it assecory either sorry for the confusion
The reson i ask is my ohp at 3x9 has been very stagnant granted im on a caloric deficit but i am a fat ass
>>35181745
It's hard to go 8-12 reps with decent weight on compounds, that's why 5 is optimal. You can always up sets
I'm close to 1/2/3/4, consider the following
Continue to just do 1/2/3/4 for more reps
Or
Keep progressing in weight
What would happen if i did the first one?
Similar situation here. Since aI dont have enough plates to keep progressing on the DL, my plan is to get to 1/2/3/4 for 3x5. Good or bad idea?
>>35181825
No one on fit lifts i guess.
I'm gonna try the rep route and see where it gets me. I don't really need to be huge in my profession, but endurance and a strong CNS does.
If these guys were alive today and had Youtube fitness channels, everybody would say that they're on roids.
Blaha would be making videos about how they're too big and too full for such low bf.
Just saying. Natty limit is much higher than most people think.

So taking amphetamines is still natty?

You're a loser and you know it.

Of course it is. It is just so damn easy to say everyone is on steroids for making yourself feel better when you look like shit.
Need tips for killer ab exercises.
So far I've tried (and had decent results with)
Hanging leg raises
Weighted Crunches
Ab-wheel
But I don't feel much from leg raises anymore. Weighted crunches puts pressure on my back, and using an ab-wheel makes my knees hurt. Post some of your favorite exercises for me to try!
