Watch some videos of proper bench form. you are probably fucking something up. Retract scapula. squeeze shoulder blades. slight arch in the back. squeeze the bar. push through your wrists. make sure you have proper hand placement so your wrists arent fucked.
which part of the bench are you fucking up? The first half or the second half? Do some other chest exercises if first half. if second half, add some tricep isolations.

Is "starvation mode" actually a thing?
I'm at 26.4 BMI, closing in on that golden normal, but my family keeps telling me after I don't eat lunch or breakfast that my body will go into starvation mode and store more weight as fat. Are they wrong or right?
they're wrong, normies have a habit of falling for that shit ("oh, i'm only fat because i miss breakfast that makes sense!"). "starvation mode" only really happens after about 48 hours without food, our bodies are accustomed to having slight fluctuations in food supply
