For those of you strength training, I really have to wait 20 minutes to half a hour between lifting heavy to lift heavier again. But that's a whole lot of waiting that I don't have time for, is it just me or how long do you rest between max sets?
are these one rep maxes? How often are you doing them. If not, what percentage are these sets? You definitely shouldn't have to wait 20 minutes in between your working sets.
If you are testing one rep maxes, you shouldn't have to do this really often so a 20 minute rest then isn't the end of the world.

Is it safe to squat/deadlift on a olympic barbell? 3 pl8 squat 4.5 pl8 deadlift? or should I spend an extra 300 for a texas powerbar?

Why aren't you training a martial art
Too poor and until recently I didn't have a way to get there. BJJ is high up on my priority list though. I hope to find a gym and start within the year. No point in being strong if you can't back it up with skills.
I already did for a couple of years. It was fun when I had the time and although I'm rusty you never forget the basics so it was worth it for that...
I just don't have the time or money right now. I'd love to get back into it and learn BJJ too but between work, lifting and drinking away my sorrows it's too much.
