For overall strength, back squats are a lot better.
Like you said, front squats are better for quad development, and they're definitely not bad for leg development.
The only thing I'd say is to make sure that your form is good as you progress. I think I remember Candito having a video with some really good tips.

So I get the workplace email about peoples attire, I bin it, probably some chick at work with a short skirt again or a top that reveals she has a collar bone. Manager calls me over, the shirts I've been wearing I have my sleeves rolled up and it's making people feel uncomfortable/causing a distraction, and I need to stop also buy bigger shirts. Guys at work wear sleeveless shirts here and in fact wearing shirts much much tighter than mine, practically leotards, but I'm the only one who lifts in the office, I'm also the only one with a bf % below 20%, and lastly I only roll up my sleeves part way up my elbow... Not like the basic vest called short sleeve shirts the rest of the fatties wear.
As for distraction women at work go through my desk when I'm not around sniff loudly as I go past and ask to touch my chest arms and stomach each day at work, but fucken they are right I am distracting them, I'm what's wrong and I should quickly make my way to the local snack Allah Akbar and get hooked up to the fat pump to counter my fat terrorism, needless to say my distracting of the helpless female land manatees I work with.
