Im eating a 500 calories worth of oatmeal and a protien shake everyday, will I start cutting muscle or fat?
So /fit/, give me the breakdown between fat free vs whole milk, could one be preferable for cutting? Or is whole always the answer?
First time on /fit/ and i'm thinking about doing martial arts. What parts of my body do i need to work on? I have a right shoulder that almost dislocates when I do push ups and I have mild Kyphosis, so my spine is curved and my ribs stick out a bit. I don't want to bulk up but I also want to be able to take a punch. Also should I change my diet, it tends to be light on meat but high carbs.
Yeah man don't want to bulk up too fast, it's really easy. I started lifting in January and gain 50 pounds of muscle. It happened faster than I could react and now I'm a hulking brute benching 405

Myself and a lifting buddy were discussing "proper" grip on front squat last night. He was saying that it's more recommended to use the clean grip over cross arm but mentioned that, despite having read that in his research, he couldn't find any supporting reasons as to why it's the preferred version.
I spent this morning doing the same and found the same results. Clean grip was recommended but no real reasoning supporting it other than some loose bro-science.
So, any reason to do one over the other? Does grip impact the lift very significantly...

Cross arm will be uneven and also promotes flexion of the thoracic spine a little more than a clean grip would. If you have the Wrist flexibility for clean grip i'd definitely go with that

6'3" 280. Been doing competitive kettlebell and oly lifting (as well as some other barbell work like rows, incline etc) for about 6 months. Down 40 pounds.
Just wondering if you guys think I should aim for bear mode or if I have the physique to be built? Don't think I could have that athletic look with my genetics.
I was doing some yoga and keeping my core tight as fuhhhh, tighter than I ever have. I was feeling stuffed up so while breathing intensely doing bridges, I blew my nose, and out came this little thing, it looks like a worm.
It didn't move or anything, but it had all the characteristics of a little tiny maggot/worm thing. Slimy, didn't break in half when I tried pulling it apart, so it definitely wasn't a grain of rice (which sometimes happens if I blow my nose while eating rice).
Am I going to die?
What do you do to de-stress /fit/? I have been pissed with the people around me lately and I find that in order to not pounce on anyone or end up telling them to commit suicide I'm resorting to binge eating. Today I ate like half a kilo of chocolate, now I'm nauseous and my head hurts. Last week I ate 4 cheeseburgers in a row. I don't even remember tasting it, just angrily shoving it down my gullet until I was sick. I already gained 8kg since January doing stupid shit like this, this is surely no way to live. So what else can I do? How do I stop this
