Hi /fa/, practical fashion issue here. I'm a hipster to the core and I simply cannot part with my beard, yet I'm still determined to join the military - specifically the air force. I've always been interested in Islam and other cultures, so if I convert to Islam, could I potentially keep my beard?

I can wear gas masks, they just pull my beard hairs a bit and the seal isn't that great, but it's not like I'm going into a chemical environment. Does the seal really have to be perfect if I'm in a plane?

I love how they look broken in, but they seem like they could be a big pain in the ass overall. anybody here have experience getting this level of fades? Not OP but I can't do that as it leaves too many hairs which start ingrowing. I basically have to wait around 4 or 5 days after shaving so I have a considerable beard before I shave because anything less than that will irritate my skin.
To OP I'm using shaving balm instead of after shave and it's gotten better but it's not really good enough, I still get red bumps, mostly below around the neck. I feel it's because my hair down there grows upward/sideways instead of downwards like on...
