I'm furring my Fursuit head soon and was wondering what is the best way to do it and if there are any tutorials or videos that are helpful.
I think my gf hotglued patches on and sewed them down. Can't remember exactly but I'm sure you can find tutorials on YouTube, tumblr, and deviant fursites.

what >>988885 said, first to get the pattern, get some masking tape, stick it all over your head/body. Then draw where you want the seams to go, put them in places that are hidden and just get a nice balance between number of pieces (you don't want 100 little pieces of fur, but you want to make sure you're not trying to cover around too much with one piece of fur) when you have all your seams drawn on, cut and remove the masking tape in sheets, this will be your pattern, get your masking tape pattern and lay it out on your fur to cut out the pieces you need and just hot glue that shit all over, anywhere you need it to be a little stronger, like in the corners sew that shit down like you usually would, just grab a thick needle and make a few loops through the fabric and head.
As for the body, since you can't hot glue it to yourself (unless you're into that) just look at how clothing is put together, it's essentially the same thing.

I don't know what some people do, but that foundation is a shit. My mom used to be the lady who would make mascot costumes, cartoon costumes, and other costumes for big productions. She was damn good too.
She would take multiple thick layers of lightweight open celled foam, glue them together with spray on fabric glue onto a prebuilt framework of closed celled poster board, or thin plastic tubing until she had one giant block. Then take a reciprocating knife and just carve out the shape she wanted.
Then she'd sew multiple strips of fabric together based on the texture and coloration she wanted. She'd always use fabric that was a bit stretchy.
Finally she'd spray the foam mold with the fabric glue, and stretch the different pieces over the mold piece by piece. The fabric strips would always terminate where a crease was, so it was very easy to hide. The eyes were either tinted plastic hidden within a black spot of the costume, or just those plastic mesh boards that are used for easy cross stitching.
She'd make the body the same way, and make sure to include a fan in the back for cooling.
I actually introduced her to the furry community just because I knew she'd enjoy making the costumes, and probably profit off of it.

Make a pattern with paper [preferably newsprint or the like] and make it look how you want with details and such, then transfer that to the fur, sew it, and when attaching to the base, use hot glue to be extra secure.
Make sure the head is ventilated or you'll have a bad time. also, line the inside of the head with thin fabric because foam.

Duct tape the head, and as you cut off the tape, mark the parts on the head. then, flatten out the duct tape and put it on fur. Make sure the fur is the right direction, and always cut a bit larger.
If that is your fursuit head, I really would suggest shaping it a bit more with foam. Don't be afraid to add eyebrows and more defined cheeks; the fur removes lumpiness but will also take out definition in foam including those cheeks.
If you are making fur with a pattern (black and white for example,) Mark the pattern on the duct tape after you wrap the head and make sure to cut it to fit.
You will also need to shave the fur to define the shape of the head, so your suit doesn't look like a sheepdog.
If it is like tiger stripes or something, consider airbrush.
I don't make fursuits, but I've made costumes that require furring and patterning like this.
