How would one make something like this?
I need it for...reasons.
Is there a way to make one of these without getting the parts specifically ordered in a factory?
>>
you can probably find cheater pens on amazon or ebay, geez
>>
go away underage faggot
>>
>>977938
There are none that are digital. This one how I imagine it would be able to store a lot more text
>>
>>977937
Don't cheat on your tests. You're only cheating yourself.
>>
>>977937
it would be a lot easier to study and learn your shit than to do this.

it's true what they say, "the lazy man(child) works twice as hard"
>>
>>977944
Not underaged, just asking if it would be possible to make a digital version of a cheat pen. We're supposed to use our intelligence to find an easiest way to do something, right?
Why would I need to memorize enormous blocks of text to pass an exam in college when it has literally no applicable knowledge in real life?
Especially in the country I'm from, where we still use a dogmatic curriculum inherited from socialism, etc.
I can study, but I'd rather spend the time doing something I enjoy.
And I'm no moron, I've already learned how to stickweld, worked around with construction jobs and fuck me if I wouldn't take up electronics just to make this if it's possible, just looking for an easier way to pass a bullshit grind without stressing over memorization. And I'm neither a doc nor an engineer, so you shouldn't stress over how I do my shit, it won't have anything to do with you.
>>
>>977949
You are most likely right, but from my perspective - I will never need the absolutely correct specifics about Anglo-Saxon history or how many wives king Henry the VIII-th fucked and what their names were, I just need the diploma so I can teach Japs online, or head over to teach English to children in China so I'm lax about the studies regarding non-critical subjects.
However, anything I find important I learn.
Anyhow, enough about me, I'd like to hear if it's possible to make the pen.

your ability to adapt, cope, and succeed outside your comfort zone = your ability to succeed in life. work on that.
>>
>>977937
There's no way you'd fit all the electronics and batteries required into a regular sized pen and still fit the ink bit in.

Not to mention, a screen of that aspect ratio and size would have to be custom ordered.
>>
>>977955
Nope, I don't think you need to know E&M, how to interface with an OLED matrix's controller, or so on. You are just going to teach kids English, so why bother teaching you the specifics.

Yeah, you like take a clock apart and bend is screen with a hammer and jam it over you pen with a screwdriver. Then you use yellow ductape to hold it in place, but put a Bluetooth USB controller attached to 7 of the leads of the display, then a AAAA battery goes on two of the leads, then you can control it from your laptop, it shows up in Windows just like am extra monitor.
>>
>>977976
A custom-made inkwell and a biggie-size housing would be possible.

Put one button under a flexible nip overlaying the pen's tip, drill a tiny hole into the housing, route magnet wire. The MCU would be programmed to use the button as UP, DOWN and POWER. A half-size AAAA battery also fits. The body can be machined, from the inside, until it is transparent, and LEDs or a flexible screen placed underneath.

Now the issue is amplification and the power system. And I have no idea how to fit a controller in there but this is basically just a Surface Pen.
>>
1) For the screen: I'd dream for a flexible e-ink display. One like this:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-43inch-flexible-wristband-e-ink-e-paper-display-screen/32634940792.html
I got no idea what can you use for a screen in a homemade pen.

2) For "logic" I'd dream of some bga / wafer level arm cortex-m,
e.g. http://uk.farnell.com/stmicroelectronics/stm32f479aiy6tr/mcu-32bit-cortex-m4-180mhz-wlcsp/dp/2503274 (a random STM Cortex-M4 with lots of memory and a built-in SD card interface)
In homemade pen – I'd go for http://uk.farnell.com/stmicroelectronics/stm32f334k8t7/mcu-32bit-cortex-m4-72mhz-lqfp/dp/2469572

3) To power it up – this could be an issue, but if you don't want it to last long, you can use https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A23_battery ; mcu in sleep mode consumes little power, e-ink consumes little power, so it's not that bad as it sounds. Even a lithium button cell could suffice.

4) storage – micro-sd card obviously

If you have a screen, then:
- getting it working on a breadboard: easy,
- producing PCB and soldering: diy-able,
- stuffing it into a pen: hurr durr I need a 3d printer, then easy.
>>
>>978013
You don't need an ARM cortex for a job you could do with an 8-pin PIC that would fit more easily.
>>
>>977950
If you're supposed to use your intelligence to figure stuff out, then why don't you figure out how to make a cheat pen on your own?
>>
>>978013
Make sure to use all BGA, that's the only way you'll be able to fit it in a pen
>>
>>978180
I did, several variations, but none are electronic.
Because the "smartest" way to do something like this would be asking people who are more competent in the sphere needed for help instead of just thinking about it.

Because you're not in college to learn facts, you're in college to learn how to learn. At least if you're becoming an engineer or similar
>>
>>977937
As someone in sales who has a hard time remembering names I'd buy something like this op, I'm actually hoping it's already a thing.
>>
>>978407
>Because you're not in college to learn facts, you're in college to learn how to learn.
no, not really
you're in college to put you deep into debt and to delay your entry into the workforce

medical factologies:
you stopped "learning how to learn" sometime between the age of 2 and 3 years old
a very large percentage of your mental abilities were locked-in by that time, and so far there's no known way to go back and change that
this is why kids who get a lot of ear infections during their first 2-3 years end up with speech disabilities that they can't un-learn

--------

anyway,,,,,,
I can't help OP. the only displays anywhere near that small I've seen is the video camera viewfinder screens, and they are 320x240, not long and thin.
but I do know that some places in the world, cheating on tests is considered fairly normal. I aint judging...
then again, all a degree is, is a paper that allows you to go out and beg for a job
a few jobs require that paper. most of the best and high-paying jobs don't.
good luck
>>
>>978455
I got lucky as hell, I had ear infections for most of my childhood but luckily I don't have any speech handicaps.
>>
>>978455
>learned to learn by the age of 2-3
nope. only when i got to college did i really know how to efficiently process and retain large amounts of complex information
no way in hell could i do this in high school or earlier
it takes a certain amount of effort to know how to push your learning efficiency to the maximum and it takes a brain that is mature enough to be able to do this stuff (unless you are some sort of child prodigy)

Yeah, because I can become a aerospace engineer coming out of high school, and getting job offers based on internships never happens.
>>
>>978519
>Yeah, because I can become a aerospace engineer

If you have the capital any thing is possible
>>

Are you a news reporter?
'Cause you cut off the important part.

Howard Hughes was the last motherfucker alive to pull that shit off. The day of pants-seat engineering, especially in aerospace, has left us long long in the dust.

Carve answers really tiny into the side of your pencil.

Take a clear mechanical pencil and roll a cheat sheet with tiny writing on it into the pencil and put it back together so u can see the answers while writing.
>>
>>977937
Its easier to just write it down in your head op.

You should be able to figure out the electronics on your own
>>
>>977947
Not true. Not all of us are cut out to sit in a classroom for 8hrs. I cheated in highschool and im doing fine in life. Shit look at politicians. Anywho you wont be able to make this elaborate thing u want. Just use a very fine pilot pen and write shit on your hand being very careful about your hand movement.
>>
>>978363
sounds like you're too stupid to figure out an electronic solution m8
>>
>>978027
8-bit PIC + driving a screen + reading SD card + implementing FAT + your program = either not enough program memory or more expensive than an ARM Cortex-M3

>>978187
LQFP32 is 7mm×7mm, so it fits in an ordinary pen.

>>978710
Electronics is easy, finding a display that fits is hard ;-)
a) it should not glow – so LCD without backlight (like in calculators) or e-ink.
b) it should be short enough to fit into a pen
>>
>>978723
>display
Here you go:

8-pin PIC + internal memory + serial LCD + 3 wire serial interface + program = plenty of space and done for ~$20.
>>
There have been programs for this purpose for the Ti-83/84 for over a decade.

OP don't you have homework to do?
>>

What about disassembling this chinese mp3 player that has a small screen and putting it together in a pen?
Fairly sure it would fit, this thing is thumb sized.
Only thing I'm not sure about is how it would be reprogrammed to show the text on the display

Yet your solid on how to wrap a flat glass screen around a cylindrical pen..?
>>
>>980386
Why would you wrap it? It's not visible when you hold the pen, would be enough to attach it on the side you mad autist.
>>
I think this topic is kinda going nowhere but anyway,,,,,,,

been browsing aliexpress for little e-ink displays. there is a few that are ALMOST small enough to work--if you can bend them a bit, and if you used a really fat pen.
the surprising thing to me is holy fuck them prices.
a e-ink display 3/4" x 1.5" alone costs about $20. the driver to write to it costs like $50, it's a huge (index-card-sized) PCB, and it has to be physically configured specifically to the size of e-ink display hooked up to it,,, apparently (?).

I build stupid shit with ardunios and the like...
I've seen news articles about e-ink displays for a long time, but I've never found cheap ones to try playing with.
And it seems... I *STILL* haven't found cheap ones to play with. Tho there is a couple almost small enough to work for OP's use.
>>
>>980376
Yup that should work, should be easy to reprogram too
>>
>>981409
$70 is like pretty cheap for a devboard.
>>

Looks like the only consequence of his cheating is that nerds on the internet get butthurt.

There's nothing noble about education. The goal is to get your paperwork as efficiently as possible. If you want to learn, that's something you do on your own.
>>
Just learn how to cheat with your smartphone bruh.
>>
>>978180
That's exactly what OP is doing, retard.
>>
>>977937
Have the pen produce text via braile so you don't have to stare at the thing.
