I have a 2001 pontiac grand prix and Im trying to figure out my options for an aux port. It only has a cd player in it.

Is this a good viable solution?

I dont see anything wrong with it.
I would try and find a CD changer cable so you dont have to rig up your own connector.

I hope you're not the guy that didn't know how to hook up speakers from the other day.

I think that guy had an 04 grand am
That guy had made a thread before about actually installing the head unit before he had problems with his amp and speakers

Try investing in an fm modulator, not a fm transmitter since it connects directl to the antenna avoiding static. I use it here in Chicago and still get crisp signals from my phone since it is a direct wired connection.

Again, this is not a wireless signal so no static, just a direct connection.

Interesting. Ive been reading that theres difficulty connecting to power though.

It seems like it would work but honestly for fifty bucks you could just get a brand new deck with all the installation gear you need.

Nigga, nobody said you did
That port you are trying to use is built to connect a CD changer to.
If you can find a cable meant for a CD changer you wouldnt need to rig it up.
