Clearing space for more solar panels, or removing shade.

I just did this test mount of a portable speaker I'm building. Mounted the power supply, battery charger and audio amplifier. Still need to build and program the DSP/DAC/front panel/wifi/FM/power management/battery monitor board, install the 22.2 V lithium battery and mount the controls.

Not really /diy/ but this morning I walked around the lake next to the McMansion subdivision that I live in (with parents but I'm trying to save to buy my own land) and collected four 55 gallon bags of trash. Not one person thanked me, they just stared from their backyards or out their windows while I picked up trash behind THEIR houses. I hate living here...

Buckets, a shop vac, wheel barrel, a fire, wood on the side...
Ok, ill bite, are you diying charcoal?
That or early stages of a space program... like real early.

My weekend project is a photo exposure timer switch with .5 sec precision. Almost done, need a 12 way switch and a box and I can set some shit on fire too.

Now fuck off back to your trap porn and stay out of my lake you fat filthy neet.

If I wanted the lake cleaned I would have rolled up in front of home depot and grabbed a spic and paid them 5 bucks to do it. No one gives a shit about the garbage in the lake. No one cares that you spent ten minutes picking up some garbage and the next week crying about it on the fucking internet in your parents basement.

I am thinking about grinding out a graver and try my hand at wire inlays.

Just got a mini table vice but don't have a work table at the moment to attach it to so I will probably get that sorted too.

I really need to figure out something like a folding work bench or something because the last few projects I have done I have used stacks of cardboard as a work place. Well that and my lap.

I'm using a jet lighter to heat strips of steel and bend them into various types of tension wrench for lockpicing, should I quench them or allow them to cool slowly?

I need them to be fairly rigid and resistant to deformation, but not so brittle that they snap when leverage is applied to them.

sup /diy/,
this was my weekend , a pole pruner made from a pair of loppers.

I got all of the parts from a scrap metal pickup.
the loppers had a broken handle, 6 ft length of gas pipe. bronze and brass hardware, aluminum pipe and a spring.

used a hacksaw to cut slots into the end of the pipe, cut the stub off of the end mounted in the pipe, drilled holes for the bolt and the rope, machined the spring retainers with a hack saw and drill, pressed one into the pipe and bolted the other to the cutter

the metal of the loppers was hardened steel, HHS drill bits were unable to cut into it. found a tip online that if you sharpen tungsten carbide masonry drill bits you can cut hardened steel, it works, using plenty of oil i was able to make the hole.

They're everywhere, I'm not particularly afraid of them or anything. Moving all my stuff to the center of the room sure helped though.

You can see it in the video, I tried sealing up the bottom with expanding foam, it didn't work too well, the ants burrow through it and the grass just grows through it, I'm thinking of poisoning the grass around it, ripping up the foam and filling it with cement.

Made this, over the weekend. For firewood and wood for the lathe. I've got like 5 more 2x4s I bought for cross bracing but I got short on time so I decided to nix that idea. It was stable enough anyways.

Anyways, ill probably turn the 2x4s into a coffee table and find someone to give it to.

I want to make a rocking horse for my little girl.

But i cant find any plans for cheep / free.

People online want $15 or more for the pattern for one design. my lowes dident have books that had rocking horse patterns in it.

The only ones i see for "free" online redirect me to some ted guys website "HI IM TROY MCCLURE! you may remember me from "how to give people computer viruses" and "getting peoples credit card info!"".

What do?
>>
>>959937
I think the wood whisperer has a video or series on it. Never watched it though, but he usually includes free plans I think
>>
>>959953

I did see those. there are 2 up on his site. the one he has plans for a do not like the looks of.

This is the one i want to make but i cant find plans anywhere.

This weekend I'm buffing, refurbishing, repainting (where necessary) some old microphones. Pic related - a 1945 Astatic DN-HZ and a 1950s Turner 9X, plus I have a 1950s Argonne AR-54 "Big Walter" arriving tomorrow.

This will be my first serious undertaking with my new power buffer. I've been practicing all week with the various wheels and compounds. The Astatic is getting brass brushed to metal and repainted, the Turner is getting buffed to a tripoli sheen, maaaybe a mirror shine if i feel up for it, and the Argonne is getting stripped and repainted

I can't fucking wait
>>
>>959971
Do they internals still work or are you going to replace them?

the astatic was buzzy and intermittent and when i opened it up i saw that one winding on the transformer was broken and the coils under the diaphgram were oxidized green, AND the coil had broken loose and was just knocking around in the magnetic gap. it was a lost cause, especially because the transformer is buried in a pool of bitumen at the back of the mic and can't be removed. so yeah, those guts had to be trashed, i'll be replacing with a high impedance omni dynamic cartridge by sony. :c

the Turner element still works perfectly and sound gorgeously tinny, the way it should.

the Argonne "big walter" is yet to be tested but my gnutts are crossed that when it gets here it's all good to go! pic is the walter I bought

>>959975

i will! it's gonna be a few days on the two painted ones, but should be really sweet.

i'm gonna paint the Astatic with rustoleum "Hammered Copper" and then polish all the ribs and grille tines down to shiny metal. gonna be classy af, just a shame it'll have a different mic element in it

the argonne is getting repainted with Rustoleum satin "oregano", which seems like a perfect match if-i-don't-say-so-myself.

Of course, you'll need to build the rollers, either by 3d printing or machining. But I'm sure you can gear them to a motor and drive it with an arduino

My weekend project is to have sex in a jetted tub and run a marathon. I'll be in VA breezy. I tilled a cubic yard of peat into my garden area yesterday and replaced my spark plug wires because the old ones were so worn out I had a terrible misfire. Last week I built a pole barn type thing for my lawn mower and a chicken coop. Pictures are in the QTDDTOT thread.
