I live in an apartment and I think that my neighbor spies on me. Every time I start a conversation I hear the sound of glass coming from my ceiling. My upstairs neighbor is a possible psycho and she loves to gossip. How do I check if she is really eavesdropping on me? I don't wanna beat on cold wood and play music all the time. I want to build my own eavesdropping device to check what she's talking about/the glass sound. I have a drill, mic, and basic soldering skills. I don't wanna buy anything expensive.

Anyway, just buy many cheap piezo mics, maybe one larger mic. Start collecting data. Use different position for the mics to filter noise from voice (mic on the floor to detect road noise etc). Learn some programming. Python should do it. Could be a long project. Then come back and make a meaningful post here.
Just pretend to talk on the phone on how you're going to rape and kill her x day for several days straight, buy rope, tape, gloves... And place them in a visible place near your window, if you get the party van you know she's spying on you.
Have a letter prepared in which you say it was all fake from the beggining and just in case.

im an old lady living in an apartment and my neighbour is obnoxiously loud. Every time he starts a conversation his booming but nasal whiny voice cuts through me like a knife. I'm at the end of my tether /diy/, he is so loud i can't sleep or hear the tv or even read a book. I can't even enjoy a glass of iced tea anymore because i am so stressed when i hear him start up again i just drop the glass out of frustration. I tried talking to my other neighbours about it but i didn't realise he was standing behind me, he must think i'm such a gossip.
At least he doesn't play loud music like my old neighbours but i often hear the sound of drilling and the smell of molten solder and rosin flux at odd hours.
