Kitchen scissors work best out of everything I've ever tried. Just cut around the lip and it opens up fine.
Knives risk you gashing yourself because the plastic is so dense it binds up,
Can openers work on the really thick stuff, but many of the packages are actually too thin plastic for the can opener to bite.

Your hands. There is usually a punched / non-welded hole used to hang the package from a hook in the store. Hook a finger on to each exposed edge and pull. Pops right open.

Otherwise, utility knife.
>>
>>937380
But anon if you use a can opener you can save 5 seconds on opening your package.
If you open your package daily that's a whopping 0.02 days saved!

Also a can opener is a better tool than scissors for every job;
need to cut some string, use a can opener.
need to cut some paper, use a can opener.
need to cut your hair, use a can opener.

This is why any modern home has more can openers than they do scissors, as scissors are retarded.

I don't. Mines electric. Put your fucking clam shell dildo wrapper in that you cuck
>>
>>937381
This, except I just slip a utility knife or pair of scissors into the opening.

Also, kitchen shears make quick work of it. The sound will trigger even the faintest autism, but it's worth it
>>
>>937383
How do you even cut it open with a can opener?
How is it easier?

I just take my scissors and cut the packet in half, what is hard about that?
>>
My offset aviation shears work wonders on them.
>>
>>937398
Personally I like to go around the outer edges of those packets, makes it less of a hassle if I have to then later return something. Most places will grudgingly take back something that's been neatly opened, but they get really pedantic about repackaging charges for stuff thats just been sliced in half.

A can opener works on the thicker plastic the same way it does on cans, the blade wheel bites through, and the gear wheel grabs the other side just the same. Handy for the packages that manage to resist scissors. Scissors work fine on like 90% of them though.

Why scissors or can openers?

Because only dirt poor people can't afford one or another of those, and most people are much more likely to own either scissors or a can opener than they are tin snips or even a utility knife.

Seriously, I would have to trudge down the garden to my bike shed, and root around in my toolbox to locate tin snips or a utility knife. Scissors I have about 6 pairs of, and I have a couple tin openers in the kitchen drawer.
>>
>>937403
>A can opener works on the thicker plastic the same way it does on cans
How is that easier, though? It's not like they're hard to cut with scissors. Snip snip snip done.

Vs. turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn rotate the package turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn...
>>
>>937407
It's more a matter of which one is closer to hand, plus can openers can deal with the thicker plastics more easily than scissors. Not all scissors are created equal, and if the choice was between some 0.99p scissors or an equally priced can opener, the can opener is less likely to splay itself apart or chew uselessly at the plastic.

Given a decent set of scissors however you are right, scissors are faster and easier.
>>
A knife is clearly going to be the quickest as you can just cut around the item avoiding the thicker (therefore harder) plastic all together.

I guess the can opener method could be helpful to someone with arthritis.

having an easy open tab defeats the purpose of the blister pack. they are usually smaller items with high incidents of theft and or easily concealable with magnetic strips to prevent "just taking the whole thing" out the door. the tab literally defeats all of the intended purposes but also adds additional cost to the item because they had to have the packs custom made either in house or a massive order placed through an injection molding company when they could have just used a prefabricated solution. The person who designed this is not good at their job.
